A flickering streetlight was the only thing lighting the dim alleyways of Hell. I stupidly decided to wonder down the alley. I needed to get home somehow, but it was only 2 blocks away, surely nothing bad could happen while I walk home, right? Of course something had to happen, this was Hell after all. And Hell wasn't known for being the nicest place in the world, in fact it was probably the worst. Maybe, just maybe, there was a place of Earth were the people living there were horribly rotten, but this was Hell we were talking about. Everyone here had done something wrong while they were alive and on Earth. Some murder, and others just being gay or trans. That's why I was put here, I like girls, and I am a girl. Honestly I'd rather be here with my fellow gays then be in Heaven and have to deal with all the red neck folks that somehow made it into there. I didn't exactly want to deal with my homophobic family either, I hadn't ever seen them down here, so they were probably in Heaven talking shit about their dyke little girl that they raised, and they just didn't know what they did to have such a sinful daughter.
I saw my shitty apartment building in the distance. Sighing in relief I let my guard down a little. I was so close to home that I doubted that anyone would pull some shit here. But to my dismay something happened. "Hey kid." A voice sounded from behind me. I glanced to see a pink and red one eyed demon. "Uhh, hello?" I asked confused, now staring at the white demon who had small pink freckles. "How about you just stay quiet, I need a place to stay the night and I was hoping you would be a dear and let me spend the night." An eerie grin started on her face. "Yeah sure, what's your name?" She gasped melodramatically. "Have you not heard of me?" She asked with shock. "I guess not, or else I would've known who you are, my name's Y/N by the way." I smiled kindly at her. "Well, my name's Cherri Bomb!" A charming smirk graced her face as we chatted on the way to my apartment. "And we're here!" We stopped to gaze at the run down building. "Really? This shit hole is where you live?" Cherri asked taken aback. "Well yeah, I'm not very rich soo... Home sweet home?" I tried to lighten up the mood as I walked inside with her following me quietly. I unlocked my room door and swung it open.
Cherri walked inside and gasped softly. "For such a shitty building this place is fucking gorgeous!" She laughed as she jumped onto the couch. My apartment was very homey looking, it was neat and clean, and it always had this smell of cinnamon from the candles I would light while I was reading or cleaning. "I guess so." I shrugged as I closed the door. "Yo can I sleep on your couch?" Cherri popped her head up. "I mean if you want, otherwise you could sleep in my bed and I could spend the night on the couch." I suggested. "Or we could share the bed!" She winked at me. I chuckled softly at her idea. "If you really want to I mean-" She interrupted me and asked where my bedroom was. I took her hand and led her to the bedroom where we would be spending the night.
I stopped at the door to glance at her. "Would you like to open the door?" I asked her with a smile. "Hell yeah!" She brushed past me to pull the door open. "Holy shit! This place is super cute! Tell me girly, how do you keep it so tidy and sweet smelling?" She gasped as she picked up a cookbook that was sitting on my dresser. "Can we make a cherry pie tomorrow?" Staring at the cookbook in awe she muttered. "I mean yeah, we'd have to buy some ingredients though..." I trailed off as she engulfed me in a hug. My eyes fluttered in confusion, a sharp inhale sounded from me. "Sorry sweets, it's just that no one has ever been so kind to me." She drew back from the hug and scratched her neck nervously. "It's okay! It's just I'm not used to hugs!" I laughed as her smile returned to her face. "We should go sleep now, it's late and I'm tired. Tomorrow we can make that pie." She nodded and pulled back the sheets to get comfortable in my bed. I turned off the lights and went to my side of the bed to curl up soundly.
I felt and arm creep around me and soft snoring from behind me. Cherri had wrapped her arm around me in a loose cuddle, and was sound asleep. I smiled softly and drifted off to dream about whatever it was that could entertain me for the night. Then before I was fully asleep the rest of her limbs tangled up with my own. I blinked tiredly at my wall and fell asleep calmly.
The feeling of rustling beside me made my eyes flutter open. "Sorry for waking you sweets, it's just that I'm super excited about the pie!." Cherri mumbled tiredly. I yawned softly and sat up. "What time is it?" I asked groggily as I attempted to wipe the tiredness from my eyes. "11:30, do you have any clothes I can borrow?" Cherri questioned. "I think I do." I stood up and started riffling through my dresser to find something that Cherri might want to wear. I pulled out a pair of black skinny jeans and a red turtleneck. "This work?" I handled the clothes to her and watched her smile. "Yeah! Hey by the way, where's your bathroom?" She asked pointing to the clothes in her hand. "Right across from this room." I directed her and she walked out to go change. I closed the door to get changed into my own clothes.
After slipping on my top I heard a knock on the door and I went to answer it. "Ready to go pie shopping?" I asked as I watched her reading the pie recipe. "Yeah, let me write down what we need though." She said she as she scribbled notes on the an opened envelope that was sitting on the coffee table. Seconds later we were outside the apartment and on our way to the grocery store.
"Hey sugar tits!" A faint voice yelled from behind us. Cherri turned her head and embraced the guy quickly. "Angie! How have you been?" She asked him. "Good good, say who's this?" He pointed to me. "This is my gal pal Y/N, she's letting me stay over, and we're making a cherry pie today!" Excitement sounded from her voice, she danced childishly as she spoke about the pie we were going to be making. He laughed at her jokingly, and turned to me. "Treat her well, she really needs it." He gave me a pat on the shoulder and walked away. I raised my eyebrow and Cherri and I continued our way to the store.
Putting some nice ripe cherries into the basket I glanced at Cherri to see her walking down the aisle with a thing of butter in her hands. She plopped it into the basket. "We ready to check out?" I asked staring at the list and glancing at the basket to see if it was there. We were good to go. Cherri pulled on my sleeve. "Can we get strawberry milk? It brings memories of my childhood." She explained. "Lucky for you, you're with me. Go ahead and grab a pint." I giggled as she ran off with a bright smile on her face.
"That'll be $24.71 ma'am." The cashier said with about as enthusiasm as a dead rat. I gave him $25 and got my change back. "You ready to go make that pie now?" I asked Cherri and she waved at the cashier goodbye. "You bet your ass I am!" She fist pumped the air in victory. I laughed as we walked home in peace.
I placed the groceries on the counter as Cherri grabbed a bowl from the cupboard. She grabbed a spatula from the drawer and I washed the cherries so they were sanitary. Cherri was rolling out dough and placing it into the pie tin and I poured in the cherry mix. We made a lattice pattern for the pie to make it look as extra as we truly were. "Fuck we forgot to preheat the oven." Cherri said as she looked at the pie. "We can put it in the fridge until the ovens ready?" I suggested. She nodded and started to preheat the oven as I placed the pie into the fridge. "We can see what's happening on the news..." I proposed the idea and she nodded. We watched the news until the oven beeped notifying us it was ready to bake. Cherri waltzed on over to the fridge and pulled out the pie placing it carefully into the oven.
We continued watching the news and laughing at the terrible misfortunes the people of Hell were being subjected to when the oven beeped again, telling us that our pie was done. "Okay now Cherri, we gotta let it cool for like 5 minutes." I cautioned her as she took the pie out with red oven mitts. "Alright, fine." She rolled her eyes, setting the pie on the counter and starting a timer for 5 minutes.
Those 5 minutes passed very quickly and we cut the pie as soon as we could to get a slice of what we knew was going to be delicious. I pulled the strawberry milk from the fridge and poured us both a glass. "You know, this has been the best day I've had in Hell." She said as she took a bite of the pie. "Holy shit this is amazing!" She mumbled with a mouthful of the pie we made together. "Glad to hear it." I said with a dreamy smile.
