The Meeting

Here I am, at school. Actually it's my first day in college and students, we'll my classmates are introducing themselves one by one. I'm not really interested. It's just all the same. They say their names, age, place, birthday, even their favorite food. I mean, oh come on! Who cares? But there's an exception. She is the exception.

"Hi everyone. My name is Centennial Lancelle San Miguel. nineteen old. Reading is my hobby. Pleasure meeting you all"

The girl talking in front caught my attention. The way she look and move, I can easily say she's one of the boys. Not only that. Her name is also funny. I think her name Centennial means one hundred years and San Miguel is a name for a brand of liquor. So her name means, one hundred years of liquor! Quite funny huh. I also went in front to introduce myself.

"Lu Han. nineteen. I sing and dance. That's all."

That's it. Short and simple but I know I captured everyone's attention. But again there's an exception, Ms. Centennial. Reading is her hobby, yeah right! She's actually reading while I'm talking in front. A guy who has a good height (no buts and that is Final) has a wonderful blonde hair and expressive eyes must not be ignored. I don't understand myself but for me, I don't care if everyone is not listening, if she's listening. It's just that there's a part of me that wants her to be my friend.

In our break time, my friends and I went to the canteen. There, I saw Ms. Centennial, eating alone. So after I had bought my snack, I went to her and seat beside her. I waited for her reaction but nothing happened. So I just stayed seated in front of her while eating my snacks.

Then suddenly out of the blue, she said "How annoying!" I smiled.

At least she cared about hmm . . . me? Maybe that first encounter of us is a no, no for some but that two simple and maybe cold words from her is the start of all. As the days past we begin to establish friendship. I begin to know her further. She's really a book addict and an eating monster. She reads thick books. Boring! That's why I asked her,"Why are you that persistent in reading those thick books?"

She replied "Because I love the contents, as simple as that. And hmm . . . at least there's a happily ever after in books. Fairytales always end in happily ever after. I wish that when I fall in love, I'll have a happily ever after"

I again asked "Happily ever after? There's no such thing as those. CL, were now in the 20th century and yet you still believe in those things? And why not just watch the movie version?"

"Such a bad guy. You're killing a girl's romantic love spirit. And I don't want to watch a movie alone. If I'll sit there and watch alone, it's just better to read alone. And I don't have a money anyway" she replied and stuck her tongue out. She's really funny and everyone would enjoy her company. That's why in those four years of us being best friends, I had fallen for her. But I can't confess. Everybody knows why. She's my best friend. If I confess my feelings to her, I might lose her. And even if we will be successful and have a relationship, it will be hard for us if we quarrel or else if we broke up. I'll lose my love one and my best friend if ever that will happen. I can't afford to lose her.
