The Argument

We stood there. Face to face with our arms wrapped around each other. I let out another whisper, "Well, can you?"
I feel Gavin's grip tighten around me and his hands clench around my clothes.
"Y/N, why are you tormenting me?" He lets out.
"I don't want to torment you Gavin. I just don't want to hold back anymore either."
He pulls his face out of my neck and looks me in the eyes and lets out, "But why?"
I can't believe Gavin and I are in this situation. I've always thought about what could happen, but I didn't know that this was how it was going to be.
Instead of saying something, I slowly lean in to kiss him. As we are about to touch lips, I hear a throat clear.
"Ahem. Isn't this a public area? This is not a good way to represent LFG, Y/N."
I know that voice. I can always hear to brashness and sharpness in his tones. I let go of Gavin and turn around. Gavin still has his arms placed around me.
"Victor, it's late. What are you doing out?" I ask.
"I could be asking you the same thing. Plan a little after work date, did we?" he fires back.
I feel Gavin pull himself in front of me and he lets out, "And so what if she did? What does that have to do with you. What she does after work is none of LFG's concern."
I don't think I've ever heard Gavin's voice sound so hard and demanding.
It's sexy.
"And what were you trying to do by bring Y/N out in this area? I bet she doesn't even know where she is." Victor has a hit of concern in his voice. I vaguely heard it.
"Gavin is a cop, Victor. I am safe any time I am with him."
I look Victor in his eyes and I see him flench backwards.
"And you don't think you're safe with me?" Victor says in a calm yet pained tone.
I don't know what to say. How do I react to something like that.
"I'll see you Monday." Victor lets out as he turns and walks the other direction.
Gavin stays in place until Victor is out of sight and then turns to me, "You okay?"
I stand there blankly. How can I react to something like that. Since I didn't know where we were, I didn't think I had to worry about anyone seeing me act this way. Especially Victor.
I finally respond, "I'm okay. Maybe we should get out of here." I sigh, "we don't want to catch a cold."
I see Gavin's eyes fade as he says, "Sure, I'll take you home."
As he turns to get on his bike and hand me his helmet I grab his shoulder and turn him around.
"Do you think we can go to your place instead?" I hang my head timidly not sure how he will respond.
"I think that's a great idea." Gavin's eyes light back up as he hands me the helmet. "Oh, I almost forgot. I took you out here to see the Ginko leaves. They always seem to shine brighter in the moonlight.
I look over and see the trees and they are shining bright under the stars and moon.
"Wow, this is beautiful." Gavin reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a jewelry holder.
"Here, I got this for you." I open up the box and within in is a Ginko leave necklace that almost matches my bracelet. "I wanted to get you something that you could wear every day like your bracelet. Do you like it?"
I wrap my arms around his neck. "I love it. Thank you Gavin." As I pull away, I knock over my purse and everything falls out again. "Ugh, seriously."
I bend over to start picking everything up, and see Gavin's hand reach across the ground. "What's this?"
He holds up the picture of him in uniform.
My cheeks fill beet red. He wasn't suppose to find this. I am so embarrassed, but finally muster up the courage to say, "It make me feel better to have it. When you're on a mission, sometimes you're gone longer and I can't have any way to contact you. I just want to be able to think good thoughts when you're gone like that."
He pulls me in for a hug. He tightens his grip around me, "I'll always be with you."

Victor finally pulls into the parking spot of his house. His hands grip firmly on the wheel. "How could she be such an idiot?" He lets out a sigh. He knows that she didn't do anything wrong. All he cares about is her safety.
"She doesn't feel safe around me..."
He pulls out his phone and goes to his messages and types out...

I will always keep you safe. Please, trust me.

Victor looks long and hard at the messages and finally moves his thumb over to the send key and presses down.
He leans back in the seat and puts his hand over his head. "No turning back now."
