A/N: Sorry for the shorter chapter. I'm just exhausted and wanted to hurry up and update.

Annebeth had gotten out of Chiara's car after another 30 minutes of gossiping about customers and their idiotic behaviors. Honestly, the way medigans pronounce Italian words should be considered a crime. Chiara's favorite of the night was a woman pronouncing tiramisu as tire-a-miso.
When she pulled up at the motel the clock in her car read 10:30pm. She let out a sigh as she turned her car off. While this week had started out as a way to collect themselves after they found the noose, she had secretly enjoyed the time away from work and school too.
The noose.
She had been so happy these past few days, she forgot why they were even stuck in that motel room.
Because someone was threatening to expose them, she thought to herself.
The night sky shone few stars, the moon absent from the tapestry above.
There were only 10 steps from her car to the front door.
10 steps.
But tonight those 10 steps felt like an eternity.
She stepped out of the car, instantly feeling uneasy. The hair on her arms and neck stood alerted. Her cheeks flushed and her breath caught in her throat.
Click.
It was unmistakable. A camera shutter.
She stalled in the parking lot, looking around her.
Her motel room door stood only a few feet from her. The fluorescent light above the door illuminated the chipped paint on the maroon door. To her left was a row of other motel rooms, fluorescent lights, cars, and the motel sign that read "VACANCY". To her right was one more room. Then the building ended, the corner meeting neglected shrubs and foliage. A few hundred yards away began a farm field with stalks of corn wilting away.
Click.
There it was again.
Chiara jutted her head around behind her to where the noise came from. She saw nothing. No movement. No flash. No shadow.
She turned back towards the door to her room and jetted inside. She gripped the gold painted door knob and thrusted herself inside, slamming the door behind her.
Her body was breathless. Her shoulders moved raggedly mimicking her lungs desperate attempt to breathe.
"Chia..." a voice called out from behind her.
