The Morning After
"Wow," Mike said, staring at his ceiling.
"We can't tell the party about this. They'll never stop making fun of us," (Y/n) said, sitting up. She was wearing only a bra and panties, while Mike was only in his boxers.
"Wow," Mike said again.
"Shit. I never told Steve I was spending the night here," (Y/n) muttered. She grabbed her dress and sighed.
"Wow."
"Would you stop saying wow and get me something else to wear?" (Y/n) asked, playfully hitting Mike with a pillow.
"Oh, uh, yeah. Sure," Mike said. He got up and walked over to his closet.
"Steve is gonna be pissed," (Y/n) murmured.
"Why? You've spent the night before," Mike asked, handing her a plain red polo and a pair of black jeans.
"Yeah. But that was different. We didn't... you know," she said, pulling on the polo.
"Well yeah, but we've made out and whatever," Mike said, sitting next to her.
"Can you walk me home?" (Y/n) asked. Mike smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Of course," he said. He got up and pulled on a black long sleeve shirt and a pair of jeans.
The two walked out of his room, hand in hand. They were both madly in love with each other, even though they never admitted it straight up.
Sure, they said their "I love you"s, but they never went more in depth than that.
Mike loved every feature of (Y/n). How she raised her eyebrows when Lucas made a dirty joke, how her fingers moved when she played the bass, how she danced when they listened to music.
He didn't have that with El.
But El had that with him. Their relationship was mostly one sided towards the end. Mike lost interest in Eleven and gained interest in (Y/n).
Things turned out okay for Eleven. When she went back home, she met a boy named Peter. They got close and eventually started dating.
Everything in Mike's life was perfect. His grades were good, his family was at peace, and he was in love.
(Y/n) also loved every feature of Mike. How he stuck his tongue out a little when he was deep in thought, how his jaw would drop when he was surprised, how he danced along to her band.
The party was at peace. Everyone was content with their lives. This lasted for quite a while. Ever since (Y/n) joined the party, everything was peaceful. Max and Lucas' relationship was (mostly) stable, and Dustin was fine with being single.
(Y/n)'s band went on to become huge. Not just in Hawkins — everywhere. After high school, Mike and (Y/n) moved into a small apartment together.
He decided not to go to college, and neither did she. Mike went along with (Y/n) and her band whenever they went on tour. Their fans absolutely adored Mike.
As for the party — they all stayed in touch. Lucas and Max ended up breaking up, but stayed on good terms. Lucas moved in with Dustin and the two were roommates. Max lived by herself, but was mostly at (Y/n)'s house (when she was home, that is).
As for the Byers' and Eleven, things ended up okay for them as well. Eleven legally changed her name to El, and she moved in with Peter.
Will realized that he was lying to himself his whole life. Mike was right — didn't like girls. He met a boy named Richard and they dated for while. They then moved in together and got married.
Nancy and Jonathan also got married, and moved far away from Hawkins. They always saw (Y/n)'s band in concert when they came around.
Joyce and Karen started their own company. They helped kids get out of abusive homes and into happy and healthy ones.
Steve and Robin were roommates and lived near (Y/n). Steve went along with her on tours sometimes.
Mike and (Y/n) eventually got married, but never had kids. Mike had no interest in having children and (Y/n) was just too busy.
Everyone was happy.
All because of (Y/n). She was the glue that held everyone together.
Mike fell in love — with the girl at the rock show.
the end.
