1 Day Gone – 29/03/2019

Aidan woke up, due to a substantial amount of noise being made. He looked at the time, it was 1:15am, he looked outside the window to see what was happening. He witnessed hundreds of people near the main school entrance but sounded as if more noise also came from elsewhere. He stepped over Solomon to leave the room however he accidentally woke him up. Together they left the room and stood in the middle of the school corridor, looking down the windows, to see who was shouting. From the bus stop to under the school bridge, they saw masses of people stood; shouting and screaming. Aidan took a quick count and counted around another five hundred people. In total, there was over one thousand people.

"Fuck..." muttered Solomon, under his breath.

They all started to stare up at Solomon and Aidan, still shouting. Some of them were children. Innocent children wanting to find somewhere safe but Solomon could do nothing to help, he can't even speak to them, his voice wouldn't have been able to reach them.

"What should we do?" asked Aidan.

Solomon remained silent.

People begun to climb the fences near the school canteen, they were armed with metal poles to smash the windows to get into the school. The first people managed to climb over the fences and more people followed. Using their metal poles, numerous of them tried smashing the canteen windows but not a dent was even made. The windows were too sturdy however the desperate refugees continued. The noise had woken up more people and they started to watch the crowd as well. After a few minutes of continuously mashing the windows, it was still unmarked.

A large truck began to drive through the crowd, not even honking to alert the people to move out the way.

It was a massacre.

The truck drove straight through the fence and into the canteen. The road the truck drove on, nothing remained other than bloody, crushed bodies. The people began running through the breach and into the school, unaware of the dangers within. They thought they found their safe haven but instead they met their deaths.

Once they realized the school was compromised, it was too late.

The slaughter begun.

In the crowd, people had begun to turn and bit others. The people who went inside were now running out of the canteen from the walkers. Soon by morning, all of these people were about to become a part of the dead.

The whole group had woken up and saw the massacre but as it continued, many looked away but not them; Solomon, Sami, Ainhoa and Aisha, they witnessed the consequences of their actions...

The next day, Solomon woke up on the floor of the corridor, he had fallen asleep while watching the massacre. He stood up and saw what he knew what was going to happen. Thousands of walkers surrounded the school, some had even entered the school through the breach.

He was now ravenous, he hasn't eaten since breaktime yesterday but he couldn't eat anything right now, the group had to decide and ration out the food together. He went back into the classroom to check on everyone but they were all asleep apart from Aidan, a Year 7 student he saved last night. Solomon went up to Aidan and asked him how he was.

"I miss my family," he said.

"Same here," replied Solomon.
"Do you know what happened to them?"

Aidan said that when he called his mum, she was on her way out of London with the rest of his family; he had been abandoned. Solomon and Aidan continued to converse until everyone else was awake. Once everyone else was awake, Solomon gathered everyone back into Room 318 while Mariya, Hiba and Faduma brought some of the food from the food storage.
