As a wolfdog, you were only seen as one or the other. It was rough growing up, especially for your siblings as well, but you all had each other. That was all you needed to get by: your family. They were the ones who had encouraged you to follow your dreams and made you believe you could achieve anything.
One dream you always had: to be apart of a Wolf Pack, maybe even be an Alpha of your own. You had actually joined a Pack with your sister for a while, but she was killed not too long after. That drove you to kill one of their Hunters in return before running off.
Today you were walking around, sniffing the air in hope to catch the scent of some prey. You had been known as the 'Murderous Hybrid,' and was avoided by other Loners and Packs alike. You weren't ashamed for what you did; they killed one of your kin, so you killed one of them for revenge.
You would've continued walking, had it not been for the clustered trees being gone suddenly and the sky being more visible than before. You looked around, seeing a wide, grassy meadow before you. No trees were seen anywhere else, and it seemed to stretch on for miles. You stared at it in awe, finding the landscape beautiful. So, without much more hesitation, you walked forward into the grassy area.
As you walked, you studied every flower, rock, and all the green scenery around your paws. "It's so... pretty." You whispered to yourself. You came across what seemed like a slight hill, or just an elevated part of the ground. You sniffed the air once more, hoping to find some prey. Instead, the scent of another wolf hit your nose, and you perked in surprise. "Hey, who's there?" You asked aloud, your voice full of curiosity.
At first, there was nothing. You could tell they were still there, hiding behind the makeshift-hill. But, a few minutes later, you saw a pair of fluffy ears peek out from behind it, and, slowly but surely, a Wolf's head also appeared. "H-Hello? Who're you?" He questioned in a nervous tone. One look at his face and one listen of his voice, you could just tell he was shy. He lifted himself up fully, standing at the top and looking down at you.
"Wait... you've been described to me before... your that one wolfdog that killed that Hunter from your Pack!" He exclaimed, stumbling back. All you heard was a yelp as he fell back, hearing some weird sounds. "OW-!" He yelped once again. You flattened your ears and huffed, before walking your way up the makeshift-hill and looking down. He laid there, looking up at you with slight fear.
"I won't hurt you. Come on, get up." You walked down to him, going to his side and nosing at his pelt. He didn't do or say anything as he stood himself up, and you noticed he held one of his hind paws up. "You twisted it, didn't you?" You asked blandly, to which he just nodded gently. "Yeah... sorry about that. My name is Flint. What's yours? Besides the whole... 'Murderous Hybrid' stuff..." He shyly admitted.
You weren't sure whether or not to respond honestly. He could've been making an act to trick you, for all you knew! But, reluctantly, you sat beside him. "My name is (Y/N). And yes, I did kill a Hunter from my old Pack... but, they took something from me that meant more to me than life itself." You told him calmly, but at the last part, your tone sounded cold and unforgiving. He nodded, smiling awkwardly a bit.
"Say... wanna come to my territory with me? You know, just to hang out. Besides... no one really wants to hang out with a shy wolf, not to mention a Loner..." he told you, looking down a bit. You tilted your head, confused and wondering why he was so accepting of you so quickly, even after a first impression. "Um... okay? Sure, let's go. Lead the way, Flint." He dipped his head and let his tongue hang out of his mouth, starting to trot away into a farther part of the meadow.
Before you started to follow him, though, you looked back at the tree line you came from. "Never again." You told yourself as you turned back and ran to catch up with Flint.
