He smacked the keys on to my window to terrify my inner soul. He then pressed the unlock button and the door was now unlocked. I had goosebumps all the way through my body and didn't know what to do

...

I should have escaped the car when I had the chance but now its too late. The man quickly opened the door and moved his knife up to stab me. He tried to aim at my face but failed due to my quick reflexes. But unfortunately, the guy got my hand. He stabbed my hand straight in the center. I screamed while the knife was stuck in my hand. When Ben heard my screams and he got scared. Eventually, the man found him and went back to get him. He knew I was not able to do anything so he left me there. Little did he know... When he went back to find Ben, he put his knee on the backseat and then looked down where to find Ben. I quickly move my front seat backward with all the force I got and hit him right on the back. The seat was on his back and he wasn't able to move.

This was Ruby's chance to make a run for it. She quickly rushed towards the backseat and grabbed Ben. She then closed the door and made sure the car was locked. Then she ran as fast as she could and eventually went into the woods as she felt safer in the woods rather than walking on the endless road.

3:15 am

I went as far as I could until I got tired and stood behind a tree.

I took Ben and put him beside me so he can also rest. My hand was bleeding badly. "I have to do something or it could go worse." "How did he got dad's keys? " I questioned myself. "Was the blood on that knife dad's or someone else?" I slowly got my answers... Ruby started crying after she got to her conclusion. Only if I had gone with dad he might have been alive now. The loud cries of her attracted someone closer to Ruby... She heard the voice of grass tearing apart from each other. Each step closer towards her. She wiped her tears and grabbed a stick to protect herself. The anonymous person was right behind the tree. He stopped... After a few seconds, Ruby decides to charge. She holds the stick tightly with one hand and then slides back... She aimed for the head but unfortunately missed it. It felt like the anonymous person was shorter than her. She hears a crackling voice... BAH! BAHHH! BAHHHHH!

It was a goat... She didn't realize that it was a goat so she ran as fast as she could until she couldn't see the goat. Her nerves got her... If only had she looked down to notice who it was before attacking. Ruby ran towards nowhere until she ran out of breath and fell down on the ground. Ben and Ruby both lay down on the ground and tried to catch their breath, looking at the shining stars, remembering about the moments they had with their dad and trying to realize WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE.

After five minutes of staring at the stars, Ruby decides to find his father. She grabs Ben's hand and walks slowly but consciously making sure where to put her feet down so no one can notice her. Ruby knew that the rustling of dead leaves will somehow attract someone so she had to do something quick.

She didn't know where she was going. They both just went straight into the trees going deeper and deeper in the woods.

After hours of walking and struggling, Ben fell down on the ground unconscious about what was happening around him. Ruby lifts Ben up and tries to wake him up. But he didn't wake up. Things weren't looking good for them. Both were tired, hungry, and exhausted. She picks Ben up and starts walking, carrying Ben on her shoulders. She was deep in the woods and there was no one to help her. Her shoulders were starting to feel heavy and her feet became sore. Her mouth was dry and her stomach was screaming for food.

Right when she thought about giving up, something far away was starting to show up.
It looked like a house far away from Ruby. There was hope. Her face lightened up and she ran as fast as she could straight towards the house. Even though it was far away from her, she didn't stop. She kept running while carrying Ben on her shoulders.

while running she thought that this was uncle Paul's house, but that quickly changed when she arrived closer to the house.

Arriving at the house, her first thought which came in her mind was "a house in the woods? ". Deep inside her heart, something was telling her that this house wasn't safe. But Ruby didn't have a choice. It was either she loses her hand and eventually die of thirst and hunger or she can go inside the house to find help. At first, she didn't step inside but closely monitored the house for a while making sure that she keeps her distance. The house was very old and nothing was nearby except trees. "Can it be uncle Paul's house or can it be the house of the guy who tried to kill me? ", she asked herself in confusion.

4:20 am

After observing the house for more than 20 minutes, Ruby makes her move. She grabs a small rock and aims it at the door. She moves back even further and covers Ben with dead leaves. She threw the rock with full force but unfortunately missed the door. It went straight to the window which was next to the door going right into the house and shattering the thick glass. Her idea was to throw the rock at the door so that if someone would be inside (good or evil), he would come outside the house, and then she could clarify if the person is good or bad and whether she can stay at the house. But due to her foolish mistake, the person would get more suspicious and would rather prefer to stay inside rather than go outside the house. It would have been better if she didn't throw the rock with full force as if she was playing BASEBALL... Ruby knew she was in trouble... She grabbed Ben and ran like a bat out of hell!

Ruby went behind the house and slipped into the dark leaves which were on the ground. She waited there for a while and decided to stay there until she was satisfied. There was no noise coming from inside the house and no one had opened the door from the front. The sun was coming up and Ruby didn't want anyone to find her plus she was more than tired to even walk further. This concluded her to go inside the house, but not from the front door. Ruby found a back door to the house.
