His head was thumping in pain when he came too, his eyes took a moment to adjust to the darkroom with nothing but a flickering red emergency light, clearly about to run out of reserve energy.

James stood with a stumble before regaining his ballance. He gave himself a moment to allow his body to fully adjust to his environment. Clearly being asleep for a couple days he began craving water and food. His clothes were torn and tattered yet still able to be used effectively.

Searching the room for anything useful, he finds all the other scientists in the room were dead, killed by blunt force where the explosion sent them flying in all directions, one was impaled however and seemed like he was in pain before his death. He also came to find a rucksack with some protein bars, snacks such as chocolate, beef jerky and chocolate, he also had four bottles of water with one half full bottle, he proceeded to finish the above mentioned bottle of water and ate a couple of the snacks.

He then walked over to a wall with a broken mirror, checking his elf for major injuries while sliding the bag onto his back, seeing his reflexion with nothing but a couple minor scratches that look like they should have been much worse. Then hearing a sound outside the door, this sound was crude and sounded much like a growl. Hearing this James took to the door and knocked calling out "Hello? Is someone there? I could really use some help opening this door." With no answer he heard footsteps get closet to the door before something slammed into it.

Stepping back in shock James unholstered the pistol that was held on his belt by the arch or his back, taking aim at the door. The banning continued as he took a moment to breath. He dropped to his hands and knees to see the hallway empty besides whatever was beyond the door. It was wearing the engineers uniform, but, it was giving off sparks, as though shock of giving off lightning of sorts. Suddenly, a man burst through a door screeming, leading the former engineer stumbling but hastily forming a sprint after him, two much like the engineer followed, one giving off a flame and the other a cold aura, it was Clear that whatever they were. They weren't human anymore.

James called out to the man running who was then tackled by the engineer with a flash of light going from 5 metres in distance to right on top of the man in an instant, what ensued were screams of pain that pierce your ears with a violent barrage. He stood and decided to act on his own. Taking out a pocket knife, he unhinged the doors console. The room had no windows so this was his only hope. Switching wires around and connecting some to others, he finally rerouted power to the door to life it, and it did about half way before power entirely shut down, the lights powered off and the door engaged it's deadbolt lock to stop it from falling. There was now no way to raise it anymore, but this was enough.

The screening stopped and James took off heading the other direction, gun in hand. He knew he could only use it in an emergency as the noise would likely bring fourth a swarm. Barely seeing a familiar sign he turned down the next corridor and straight into a dimly lit office with drawn blinds which he promptly locked behind himself.

This room was full of trophies and different tech along with replica weapons (None of which were going to be of any use), a large desk in the back middle facing away from a sizable window. The room also had displays all over the walls, one of which held something of value, the new sword he has created, this one was his first design and was the first working attempt and was the katana design. He took the sword and sheeth placing it comfortably on his hip, also grabbing some spare ammunition cartarages for his gun that he slid into the appropriate slots on his belt.

Now opening the window and blinds to get some air, he inhales heavily as his eyes adjust to the light he had only now seen in a few days, and once his body had made the appropriate adjustments, his pupils dilated in disbelieve, seeing how the world had completely lost all power, all stablitly with creatures running around.

With a need to discover what's going on, he opened a draw to find an imcomplete minature energy source he had been working on, it was far from completion but would be sufficient for what he wanted to do, he hooked it up to his computer and powered it on searching for one particular program, once he gained access he promptly ran a diagnostic search on the reactors around from all the data before the collapse, he found that every reactor noted had became unstable and ruptured the core, this would leak a radiation that, ordinarily wouldn't effect humans but with the aid of an outside force not yet understood by human science, it can be planted into a vessel with a store copacity. Much like how humans absorb and disperse energy, however, all experiments were terminated as the energy from the radiation was too potent and unclean for a living human to withstand. That thought porccess is what lead to James discovering what these empowered beings are, they are human courpses fused with the radiation and something unknown that keeps the human brain functioning at its bare minimum instincts of 'Eat. Kill. Survive'.

The thought of this sickened him and also showed him that the police would be no help and he had to take charge of this himself. There were a few vehicles the company were building but that was in another classified location, he'd have to plan on getting there another time. For now. He needed to escape.
