Marinette took a moment to observe her surroundings.
It was...different than anything she'd ever seen.
All she knew for certain is that she wasn't in the cushion nest Adrien had made for her.
Her environment sounded different than anything she was used to.It vaguely reminded her of some incidents Ladybug had suffered through.
Wait, why was it moving? The walls around her were pulsating. That wasn't supposed to happen.
And the environment as a whole was oddly squishy. She could've sworn she could hear a heartbeat. And various other sounds that would normally be restricted to a person's interior.
No.
No, that couldn't be. That was just her reaching stupidly again.
But was she even still asleep?Wait, that dream...was...did it?
No. Her surroundings were too distinct for that. But if that wasn't the case, then what?
No. It wasn't possible.
But when she gave it consideration...it became a lot more possible.
No, Marinette, use your head!
She reminded herself.Oh, no. No. She didn't want it to be possible. But everything around her said otherwise.
And when she gave the possibility more thought...she felt her temperature rise.
A-Adrien...you know, maybe, if this is really happening...I could get used to this...
She simply watched, staring in amazement.
Yeah, that was definitely a heartbeat.
This was even better than the makeshift bed.
And it'd fuel three months' worth of fantasies. She had no idea why or how this had happened in the first place, but why resist?
He would never hurt her, that was something she could put the worries in her head at ease with.
Maybe it'd be best for her to go back to sleep, see if it really was just one of her more interesting dreams.
Even though she would never admit it to anyone, the sounds were kind of calming.
"Adrien...." Her voice lilted in an all-too familiar way.
Adrien had never been able to fall back asleep after losing Marinette.
How do you lose a human being?
Possible or not, he'd done it. And for all he knew, something horrible could've happened to her.
And then he could've sworn he heard her.
Marinette's voice. It was incredibly dim, though.
It couldn't be a hallucination, it was there."...so...calming.."
Wait...no, it wasn't coming from there...
Or was it?
Oh, no...no. It couldn't have...
It wasn't possible.
Still, he stared at the solely black part of his shirt. And then he felt it. Something pressed into him from the inside.
And then, giggling. Dim, and muffled, but it was still there.
No.
But...still, somehow.
It'd explain her disappearance..
With a trembling hand, he lifted the fabric of his shirt and poked his stomach.
"Marinette...?"
