Breaking away

You were once a wild one

Don't let them tame you

We are fed these lies living with the painful truth locked away

NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR IT

We are chained to these desks forced to have our mind shaped into perfection

Kids find grades taking over their life

No time for your mental health

If you took it seriously you would understand

Parents your child isn't just being a burden

Your child is showing you how much of a burden it has been

Perhaps they could show you better

But perhaps you could take care of it better

We are forced to cover this shell of pain not to show

With a thick skin

We're helmeted to believe our failure isn't normal

Open your eyes.

You make us run to the distance not known to our stress level when you still chain us

Caged birds pecking away at the rust and decay only wanting to be locked away even more

Because that's all we know.

If you really want to teach us something teach us how to break away from restriction

Maybe then our engineers and class graduates will come forth

Just unlock us from these chains and let us free

We are wild ones

We will not let you tame us.
