Chapter 1 (Silverkit/Palepaw)

POV: Silverkit

"Silverkit! Come and play with us!" Silverkit's brother, Gingerkit mewed when he saw her crossing camp.

"Pleaseeeee," Her sister Cinderkit added. 

"I-I... I d-don't want t-to..." she stammered nervously, hoping she wouldn't upset them. 

"Oh..." Cinderkit mewed disapointedly. Silverkit then ran towards the medicine cat den, the one place she felt save.

"Hello, Silverkit!" The reasuring voice of Frozenflame sounded as she entered.

"H-hello Frozenflame!" she replied. Silverkit wished she could be the med cat apprentice, but Frozenflame was already teaching Palepaw. She looked enviously over at the pale brown she-cat who was currently sorting herbs. They'd used to be friends - until she'd stolen Silverkit's dream.

"What brings you here today?" Frozenflame asked a surpised Silverkit.

"I-I, err... I w-was wondering i-if you needed h-help...?" she asked hopefully

"Sure! Could you take the old herbs out? Palepaw's sorting them now," Frozenflame mewed. Silverkit nodded eagerly, happy to be helping.

POV: Palepaw

Palepaw was sorting herbs in the medicine cat den when Silverkit padded in. 

"Oh... I-its just you... W-where is Frozenflame?" she asked.

"She went to collect herbs," Palepaw replied, "Do you need something...?"

"... W-why should I-I t-tell you, t-traitor?" she asked.

She flinched, "Look, if you don't need anything then don't waste my time,"

"... F-fine..." Silverkit turned and left. Palepaw sighed. She wasn't exactly sure what she'd done to ruin their friendship, but was pretty sure it was because she was the medicine cat apprentice. She hadn't wanted to be a medicine cat, but was forced to be when Frozenflame found out about her visions. No one had even known Silverkit wanted to be medicine cat... Only her... She wished she'd done more to help Silverkit sooner, but it was too late now so they'd both have to make the most of it.

POV: Silverkit

Silverkit carefully padded out of camp - she was going to go find Frozenflame and help her collect herbs! 

Ow!

She stumbled over a root, before climbing back onto her feet again, green eyes annoyed. How many roots where there in this forest? She'd only just left camp!

"And that was how I saved the leader!" The voice of Lakepaw could be heard in the distance, so Silverpaw backed into a bush.

"Wow - you're so brave!" Snowpaw gasped.

"Dawnstar should make you a warrior right now for saving her!" Brightpaw added.

"I know, right!" Lakepaw flicked his white-tipped tail proudly.

Snowpaw suddenly stopped, "Wait a minute, I think I can smell Silverkit!" the snow-white she-cat padded towards Silverkit's hiding place looking around for her. 

"Oh really? Stop making thing up, Snowpaw!" Brightpaw replied, "Why would a kit be out of camp?"

"I know she's here!" Snowpaw insisted.

"Comeone, Brightpaw," Lakepaw turned and walked away, Brightpaw smiling smuggly at her sister one last time before padding after Lakepaw. 

Snowpaw sighed, before spotting her, "Ah - there you are!" she picked her up, "We're going back to camp!"

POV: Palepaw

Palepaw had just finished sorting herbs when Snowpaw and Silverkit entered camp. Wait - why was Silverkit out of camp?! She padded over,

"Silverkit - are you ok?" she asked, before mewing to Snowpaw, "Why was she out of camp? How was she out of camp?"

Snowpaw repiled, "I don't know - I found her in a bush!"

"I-I'm only t-two m-moons younger t-than y-you, Palepaw! I-I was f-fine out t-there!" Silverkit mewed

"Silverkit?" Creekheart rushed over and started checking her youngest kit to make sure she was ok.

"M-Mum..." Silverkit mewed, "I'm fine!" Creekheart sighed, and took Silverkit, Gingerkit and Cinderkit back to the nursery as it was getting late.

"What did I miss?" Asked Frozenflame, as she padded in.

"Oh, not much," Palepaw mewed and she and her mentor returned to the medicine cat den.
