Spyro was being pulled with the rest. They have somehow gotten themselves captured and they were being pulled. While being pulled, he wondered, 'this might lead us to both Hiccup and Nina.' When they reached a double door, his hypothesis was right but there was a massive dark crystal at the end of the room.
A voice echoed through the room. "Well, isn't this such a surprise. Astrid and Fishlegs nice to finally meet you two. Oh Cynder. My old apprentice." Everyone was scared. Spyro wanted to say something but couldn't. "Sorry. Please remove his muzzle as well as everyone else's but Cynder's." The apes did what they were told. Soon enough they were all of except for Cynder's one.
"How are you still here?" Cyn and I defeated you." Spyro was trying to break free from an ape's grip but couldn't.
The crystal then spoke. "Once I have some more power I'm able to break free. And I just have the perfect source... Or should I say sources." The apes then pulled them to an alter where they were chained up to. "Your powers shall be mine." Just then, they all felt their powers being removed.

Once their powers were drained, they were removed from the alters. They still had the chain around their neck. Six crystals were carried by Gaul towards the giant crystal and was placed in front. The powers from the crystals were being transferred then a crack was heard. It was followed by another crack. The crystal then broke which revealed a giant purple dragon.
"Finally I'm free." The purple dragon made his way towards the group. "Take them to the cells. He can come with me."
Before moving, Hiccup decided to say something. "Who are you and why do you want him?"
"How rude of me. I am Malefor. Also known as the Dark Master. Spyro is my son and he will rule by my side." He gave off a small laugh before taking off. He then thought of an idea. "Your scales are black. I might be able to use them to my advantage. Bring them both to me. The others can go to the cells."
"No!" The rest of them yelled but without their power, they couldn't escape. Once they were out of sight, Malefor went to the broken crystal and picked a shard up. He grinned as he walked back. Both Hiccup and Spyro were scared.
"Wait, what are you doing..." Spyro never got to finished because Malefor smashed it in front of him and the dark powers were going into him. He couldn't bear the pain. His scales were turning from his normal purple to a darker purple.
Malefor went back to grab another shard as well as another crystal. Hiccup examined what was in both his paw. He knew one was the dark crystal but the other one looked familiar. Then he remembered seeing one like that before coming to Spro's home. "You see this crystal? This was the crystal that transported you here. Gaul was the one that teleported them to your home-world."
Hiccup has realised it. The crystals were a set up. They were used to transport him here. He was now going to be used for evil. Malefor smashed the dark crystal in front of Hiccup and he too felt the pain from the dark crystal. Before blacking out, he heard an explosion go off and saw three dragons.
