I sighed deeply and glanced beside me. There was a large turquoise diamond ring in a velvet box next to me. I was going to ask Ardin to marry me. If she married me, then maybe I would be able to love her to the fullest.

I grabbed the box, stowed it away in my pocket, stood up gingerly, and trudged to Ardin's room. When I got to her room, thoughts of rejection flooded my mind. She really had no choice, love me or die. I could tell that she was desperate to live.

I knocked on her door and waited for a response. "Come in." A soft gentle voice said quickly, too quickly. I grabbed the door handle, paused, then swiftly threw the door open.

"Ardin, I have a question," I started. As I stared deeply into her eyes, I just noticed that they sparkled. A smile spread across her face. "You can ask me anything." She assured.

Her joy brought a smile to my face. I bent down on my knee and kept my gaze on hers. "Will you make me the happiest demon alive and become my eternal bride?" I questioned.

Her smile dropped. She knew that she had no choice, but she brought back her joyous grin. "Yes." She said with fake emotion. It made me a little upset but I still slid the ring on her finger.

My heart beat has never went faster. She grabbed my face with both hands, and leaned in. It felt as if I finally had a purpose. As our lips connected, my heart seemed to rip out of my chest. The foreign feeling of love was chasing after me.

My hands rested beside her—she sat on chair at a desk, so one of my hands was on a chair and the other on the desk. Abruptly, someone behind me cleared their throat.

We pulled apart and looked over to the sound. "Well. When you said 'lover', I didn't think she was actually your girlfr—" His eyes traveled to the ring on her finger. "Ahem, sorry. I meant fiancée. I didn't think she was actually your fiancée." He corrected himself.

"A man, whom loves a woman, never lies." I said. Asher shook his head. "Actually, my dad told my mom that she was the only one he loved...yet he cheated on her." He stated darkly.

"Point proved. But I must say, I'm not that man." I said, got up, and left the room before any other words could be said.
