I filled the photo limit again! When Mike and Chloe had that chat, I started to suspect he was going.
At first I told myself, "No. This is Mike. He can't leave. He's probably just going for a while or for a holiday."
But it was clear when he asked May-Li to gather all the kids that he was going for good.
Although, I did think the reason Mike left was pretty reasonable.
DG writers; I am happy with this plot!
I'm not saying I'm happy that Mike has left, but if he had to go, then I am happy this is the way he went.
I think they did a very good job at making it believable and it tied in with other things they have said in the past ('everyone leaves the DG' and 'we are all lost boys when we arrive at TDG' etc.)
And I think him leaving to be with his Ma was easier for the kids to accept.
Remember when he was nearly sacked in series four. The kids were distraught.
But this time they were not. This time they understood.
Yes a few of them complained, but mostly, they understood.
If he had left any other way or for any other reason, the kids would have made a fuss. But because he left this way, they were more accepting. Mike is like them and they know what it's like to want to go home. They have been (and some still are) in his shoes.
