Chapter Fifteen: Escape From Madness
"You," I said, while facing my assailant.
"Yes, Siercy, who did you expect. Am I not your mother?"
"Not anymore, Josephine, not after what you did. You thought you killed me years ago, but I survived.
I never understood why you liked her so much better than me. Maybe, because I reminded you of Kal. Do you remember him?"
"Don't speak his name to me," she shouted. Her glowing essence almost looked real in this non-reality."
"Why not? He was your brother, but I forgot. Family means nothing to you. I spit on you after what you did to Daddy."
"Don't judge me. I loved my husband."
"Is that why you were fucking Brown. Oh, I know. You see, It was me who allowed you to die, because I couldn't allow your bastard child to be born."
"I don't believe you, Siercy. Not even you could be that cruel. You couldn't kill a child. Remember the woods."
"That was Shadow, poor pathetic fool. She tried to kill herself over guilt."
"How can you say that? You above all should understand the way she felt. You claim to be her conscience. You are the one who should have stopped
her.""Shut up, Josie. You don't belong here. I wish you to go even if I have to kill you myself."
I was determined to defeat Josie here in this mind battle. Things were real and unreal all at the same time, but I hated the way Josie always interfered. She had no right to tell me of what actions I should or should not take. This body was mine. I claimed it at conception. Mary was just a mere toy
I created for amusement, but she could no longer cope. No more would she clutter my world. I would put an end to her simpering ways along with Josie.
"Do you know how much I hate you? You always loved her more."
"That's not true. You are her. Can't you see that?"
"No. I'm nothing like that whimpering little brat. I'm the one who created her. I'll be the one to destroy her."
"You can't do that. Think. Shadow tried that, and it didn't work. What makes you think you can?"
"You're so funny, Josie. It's illogical for Shadow to kill Mary. The created can't kill the creator, but since I'm the role of the creator the created can be destroyed."
"And in doing so you could destroy yourself."
I guess that's a chance I am willing to take. Can you say the same?"
"Siercy, please, listen to me. You can't destroy Mary. She's innocent. Isn't that what you wanted, an innocent persona?"
"No," I said. "I created her because of you. I wanted your love, and through Mary was the only way to do it. I realized now that it was a mistake. One I plan to rectify."
