Bibi
I'm seated here with Sue and Beth, sharing puzza, fries and a dialogue.Whew.. What a fucking long week this has been. I cannot believe that this shit is my first job. I feel lowkey traumatised because of everything that hapenned this week. That boss is like the witch of the Eastend.
I'm also a little pissed about something else. The hunk from the juice parlour. I could have sworn to god he winked at me, at the door before he left.
I don't know what the fuck Melie did to get his attention, but I am 100 percent sure that hoe texted him. Lol, some bitches though...can't a guy save his number in your phone without you going all hoe on them?
He's cute though. Imagine having babies..his babies...with that amazing height, gorgeous locks, beautiful skin, sparkling eyes...hmmm...just the thought of it is making my ovaries twerk.
There has to be a way I can get to him....
Sue passes my fries, interrupting my thoughts.
"Jay said he didn't tell madam boss about mom spending the night in the guesthouse." Sue confides.
"Whaat?" Beth and I chorus.
"He said he didn't. I know Jay. I dont think he is lying." Sue repeats
"So then who did it?" Beth asks. I scoot closer, bite into my fries and respond.
"I think Millie did it." the two look at me and shake their heads.
"Think..guys. she has a laptop, modem, and internet. She is the only one who might have emailed the boss. Besides, we were all at the airport on sunday, except her and her fakeass headache..."
"Shiet, you're making a lot of sense." Beth replies.
I smile and sip my sparkling water.
"She could be the snitch in our midst?" Sue asks.
"Well, look at how fast she started hoeing around with Ethiopians. Plus that guy winked at me first. I think she's the type of girl who takes what her friends have coz she wants to feel better than them."
"Shame, and the way I thought she was cool," replies Beth.
I smile again.
"I saw her talking to Erick. Everyone knows Erick is Madam's bossom buddy. I think she was strategically brought to Mekanissa to spy on us and ensure that the office knows everything we are upto."
"Shit...I'm such an idiot. I've confided so much in her." Sue responds.
"I think let's just be careful what we say aroubd her from now on. Remember also that she went to high school with Sia, our team leader."
"She did? That bitch is the snitch of all snitches. I've seen her whisper stuff to the ESL cordinator countless times during the workshops." Beth replies
"We've got to keep our distance from them." I quip
"Sure. I was even thinking to invite Millie to that Merry go round idea but let's leave her out for now." Sue states.
We eat in silence for a while before I speak again.
"So..umm guys, when are we hitting the embassy? I am dying to meet these kenyans, especially those working at the AU."
"Hmmm...hit the ground running, I see..." Beth replies, winking. I smile.
I do have a certain way of life that I love maintaining.
.....
Sue
These fries are the life😋😋
Then, there's the pepperoni pizza, and the cocktail juice. I swear to God they don't make juice like this in Nairobi.
I've been thinking about working in this hellhole. I am pissed coz of what they did to Ma. But I only finished my campus units last July. My graduation is in November.
I don't want those garbage BOM jobs in Kenya where they pay you 10k and overwork you like a donkey. I love that this job is collecting me a cool $800 monthly, plus free housing and transport.
If the price to pay is acting dumb, I am the expert in playing that game.
I chuckle a little, thinking about the hunk from the Juice parlour. All these broads are just tripping. Obviously, he winked at me, twice. Obviously, he wants me.
I don't blame him though. I mean, I was given the hourglass figure they can only dream of. We are the same height, and I have that Lupita thing going on in the complexion sector. These people love our skin tone. That boy is mine.
But I'll let Millie have and bore him first. Besides, hmm...there's lots of hunks in this City. Which reminds me that I need to call that Australian I met on the plane as I flew in from Nairobi.
Well, he's a little older, maybe 38, but damn...He also said I had a nice body, that's like semi-finals, right?
This could be my ticket out of Africa and its poverty!!
....
Beth
"So, how much do you guys propose we contribute monthly?" I ask.
"5000birr," Bibi replies. "5000 birr is like 25k kenyan shillings. I think it is reasonable. I mean, we are bagging 80k. 45k is still enough for other things."
I nod my agreement. If the 4 of us give 25k each, everyone will be getting 100k when its their turn, that is good money.
"Sounds good." Sue agrees.
The discussion goes back to the dude these three are obsessed with. I laugh. Just one habesha and they are tearing at out each other's eyes...lol can't be me.
I can't wait to finish my contract and go start ony masters.I want to study diplomacy and come back here, find a job at the AU and live like the diplomats.
I am happy that after years of toiling in those small private schools in Nairobi, I am now working somewhere where bills are met.
We are about to pay our bill and head out when a gentleman joins us. He is lightskinned, but he doesn't look Habesha.
"Hello girls?" he greets.
We chorus our response.
"I am Bien, from Nairobi, I work at the AU. I am happy to meet you guys." he introduces himself. "Welcome to Addis Ababa my sisters." he takes a seat opposite Sue.
We murmur our Thank You's
"If you guys are free, I'd like to invite you to a barbeque at my place in Lafto; this coming saturday." he states.
I almost clap in joy, this right here is why I came to Addis, to Network, and get where I wanted to go career-wise.
"Of course we will show up. Do you have a business card?" I blurt out. Sue and Bibi laugh coyly.
"Sure, here you go." Bien responds, handing us 3 cards. He bids us goodbye and then leaves.
Ah..today was a great day. We are officially inside the circle.
As we pay our bill and head out, I tip the waitress, generously, the journey to my dreams just began.
