She watches him. Sea green eyes narrowed scrutinizing her eldest son. He gave her an awkward smile and, she pretended she did not notice the blood stained hands he had stuffed under his cloak.

'You must try harder if you want to live in this world as a leader, " snarled the lord , standing over the fallen boy. Sword a mere few inches from the boy's chest. Huffing the man stuffed his sword in it's place, hidden underneath his royal blue cloak.
"Please..." stammered the boy, teeth gritted in pain. Eyes looking up to the man he had called father.
But the eyes.
Those damnable eyes, the color of the sky and the ocean at the same time. Hidden under the false pretense of helplessness, a dangerous glint shone in them.
"I will not waste my time on a child who can not complete a simple task," the man said, deep voice booming throughout the empty corridor.
The boys eyes flashed almost revealing the darkness within them.
His father never did know what hit him.

The moment Aphmau walked into the prestigious palace, she could tell something was wrong. Not that anything screamed wrongness at her.
Everything seemed alright.
There was no doubt that the isolation had been good for them. Making Aphmau a tad bit jealous.
Nothing too serious, though.
As she walked down the streets she saw the distrust in all of their eyes. The way the children ran away and in their strange tongue whispered from the shadows.
Everything was so much different than it was in the outside world.
There was no obvious sign of poverty but, you never knew they could be hiding something.

Did they miss the cruelty in his eyes?
How wherever he walked, his people stiffened and they looked down?
Did they not see the skeletons in the gardens or the blood used to paint his walls?
The other lords have forgotten who he is, who he is related to.
That before he could walk, he had learned to build a mask. That he was the one to make the village of O'khasis crumble within a few months, and establish himself as it's new leader. That for 10 years he had kept New O'khasis in isolation only trading with the Empire of Tu'la and the nearby villages.
In the time while all the other villages had been fighting. He had created an empire in everything but name.
Dissolving the smaller villages into his own. Ruining any chance of resistance with a simple signature.
Watching the other lords cower whenever he smiled at them.
Making their villages a part of O'khasis.
With influence far and wide, he had become the most powerful man in the region.
He had built the newest empire.
He was Garroth Ro'meave.
Newest ruler of O'khasis.

I think I should get it out of the way, but my favorite character across all of the Aphmau universes is Garroth. So that is probably why he will be the one that is mostly featured in this collection of one shots.
This is pretty old, which is the reason for why it's so short. The original was written a few months ago and I had never gotten around to post it on anything really. Pardon me for any occ characters, in any of these shorts.
