*Mulan AU where female Garroth (Garte) hides her true gender, running away to Phoenix Drop

Snip.

Snip.

Golden locks fall onto the dirt ground. The small rays of sunlight making the golden locks glow like small fireflies against the night sky.

Garnet looks at her reflection in the still body of water.

Her once long blond locks laid at her knees, the sheers glinting in the scarce sunlight.

She looked different.

Not in a bad way, but not entirely in a good way either.

Garnet was used to wearing long dresses and capes. Her chest, flatter than most, was usually stuffed with stockings to make her breasts appear bigger. With the bindings her chest was flat. Corsets, usually were wrapped around her thin waist. Thin; due to all the intensive diets her family forced her to undergo.

Garnet grabs the clothes she had nabbed from the jerk she had met a few days prior.

They were a little big for her. Hanging off her like rags.

It's better than nothing.

She stuffs her rather slim and delicate legs into the rough pants. Proceeding to do the same with her feet.

Garnet glances at the reflection in the still water.

A rather feminine looking boy staring back at her.

She stands up brushing stray sandy locks out of her face. Picking up the jacket she had also nagged from a clothing line she had found when she was running away.

Her eyes lock with the boy's in the water. He copying her every move.

She looks away.

Slipping on the worn jacket she sighs.

Where was she supposed to go?

"May I please have a boat ticket to Meteli."

Garnet stands in a rather long line, waiting for the man to give her a ticket. She's gotten better at making her voice sound rather boyish. Not manly, though. Which has led many people to believe that she was a lot younger than she actually was.

Which came with it's pros and cons.

"Hmm...you're a lucky kid!" the older man claps Garnet on her back," we have a few tickets left for a boat leaving Meteli in about," he glances at the hourglass resting on his stand,"' fifteen minutes, if your'e interested."

"Yes that would be great," Garnet responds, taking great care to ensure her tone was lower than it was naturally.

"Twenty emeralds!"

Garnet keeps her somber expression, but lets her eyebrows twitch at the price.

With a bit more force than necessary, she slings her backpack off her back, retrieving the small pouch of emeralds.

Once she made sure that it was the right amount of emeralds, she handed it to the man. He eagerly takes the emeralds from her hands, handing her in turn a small ticket.

"Where's the boat?" Garnet asks, looking into the man's brown eyes.

'Ah- silly me, it's over there," he motions to the rather big boat docked next to the oak tree.

She nods, as a thank you, before heading to the boat.

Although her composure is calm, inside her body whirls with anxiety.
