Her eyes are the first to open that morning. It was early that Sunday morning, but she didn't care. She was with him and she was safe and sound. She watched him as he slept, loving every minute of it. This. This right here is what she had lived for. The moments where she could thank her lucky stars for his existence in her life. Everything seemed to make sense now.

Every heart break lead straight to him and he was perfect. Don't get her wrong, he's got his demons and flaws, but in her eyes, he was perfect. His mannerisms have such a cadence and he was endearing. She never wanted to lose him. The thought of him now being there terrified her, losing him would be worse than death itself and that scared her. It scared her to know that he held such a strong hold over her heart. The heart that he had spent so long mending with reassurance and patients.

They had started off as just friends, Taylor had already been involved with someone when they had first met and he wanted to respect that. He didn't want to overstep his boundaries, so he remained a friend. A friend that was always there when needed or wanted. He had soon become one of her closest companions and their relationship had been a complete accident, but an accident that they do not regret, not even for one second.

She continued to watch him and everything over the last three years had began to reflect. From giving him the cold shoulder for about three months, to finally coming to terms with her feelings, late night booze filled rooftop talks. But with all of their good times came some bad times, like when they first started out and she was a nervous wreck, it hadn't helped that the entire world had seemed to hate her, it affected their relationship. Her insecurities had also played a huge role, she had always gotten stuck inside her own head, but he was always there in golden armor to save her from herself. And their screaming matches where she would accuse him of not loving her and he'd retaliate with arguing back that she didn't trust him, but they always met in a type of afterglow. The many nights where she had asked him if he could see right through her and he'd always assure her that she was a good person in spite of what the world said. He had always seen the best in her during her worst times and she adored him for that. He taught her patients, cadence, serendipity, and acceptance.

He was golden.

She continued to think of everything that she loved about him. His eyes were the color of diamonds. They were so pale yet so blue, one could easily mistake them for white. Though if you looked deeply into them it would become clear that they were not white, but pale blue. She couldn't decide on if they were blue like the ocean or indigo like the rainbow, but she loved them. They looked as if they had seen to much pain and suffering, but had also seen so much beauty and grace. His smile lit up the whole world and made everything seem so alive, it was beautiful and mesmerizing. His smile had been the sunshine to her rainy day. And his personality showed character. He is somewhat reserved, but he is generous and kind. He is happy to be out of the limelight, and she thrives in that, so they complement one another. He is also thoughtful, so it makes her proud to know him as he deals with others. He has never had someone dislike him or think he's a bad person. He has a fairly even temperment. He is curious about everything, loves to grapple with puzzles, need facts to understand things, and isn't easily duped.

"He loves me."

It's all she could think about. He loved her and she loved him. He loved her so much that he saw past every warning that the industry had given him, past the pretense that the media had made of her. He loved her. He accepted her flaws and all.

She also loved his background, he was nothing like the others. No, the others had seemed to forget where they had came from, they had lost their ability to be humbled. He took pride in being from a small town in a North London. He took pride in being home away from the spotlight and he loved having her by his side to do so.

He was different in all the right ways. It was refreshing to have someone so normal in a world that wasn't normal at all.

She could lose track of time when she thought of him, she didn't want to think of anything else. She was so love stricken. She could never look away from the future that she envisioned for them. The short three summers together had felt like twenty seconds, but also twenty years. She knew from the moment that she said yes that things would never be the same and she didn't want things to remain the same. She wanted him forever and ever. If you'd asked her three years ago if she would do anything in life different then she'd give an obligatory yes, but now her thoughts have changed. Now, she'd answer with a simple "no". They'd look at her like a mad-woman when she had given the answer, but the answer was as simple as her explanation — "I wouldn't be where I am now without every misfortune and every bit of ridicule. I wouldn't be the person that I am, I wouldn't have the success that I do or the friends that I cherish, but most importantly, I wouldn't have found the person that I want to spend the rest of my life with"— and yes, she did want to spend the rest of her life with him and he wanted to spend the rest of his with her.

"Looks as if love doesn't burn as bad as I thought it would." She often made herself laugh with her own jokes that she'd generated in her mind of past lyrics and biased thoughts.

"It's golden.. like daylight."

And in that moment, his eyes had joined hers.

"So do you have an answer?" He said sleepily as he closed his eyes once more.

"Yes, my answer is yes." She replied.

He smiled ear from ear as he pulled her in.

"I love you now and I'll love you forever." He says.

Flashbacks of the last decade flashed through her mind and in that moment she had realized that she's just finished a song.

"I think I just wrote the closing song of the album." She whispers.

He looks down, a bit confused. It had always intrigued him with how fast and silently she could write a song without any instruments or even a notepad, but nonetheless he had been a tad bit confused. She had noticed the confusion on his face, she didn't want to ruin this moment with her work, so she replied with a simple phrase.

"Daylight."

I actually had a lot of fun writing this one. I found inspiration in a relationship and it turned out nice. I like the idea of writing about Joe and Taylor and I hope it continues. Here's to future writing🥂

(also, shoutout to elementfighter because without them then I wouldn't have posted this)

All the love,
Rae💛
