A/U: Taylor finds out that Joe cheated. She forgives him, but can't seem to move on as quickly as everyone thinks (they're not famous in this one)

It's been three months. Three months since the night that changed everything between them. Three months since he had admitted to being unfaithful. Three months since the air had been taken from her lungs. It felt as if she was constantly trying to breathe when she looked at him. His kiss didn't feel the same, his touch felt cold. There wasn't a piece of his body that had felt the same, it was all tarnished. He was her shines new toy that belonged to her and only her and now it was as if her was ruined.

"Come on, Taylor. Stop comparing him to a toy as if he was an object." But it was true, he was hers and hers only and someone else had ruined him for her. The thought of him even being intimate with someone else had made her sick to her stomach, she hasn't kept a full mean down, let alone worry about actually eating since he had come clean. Considering her past, she had assumed that she'd known heartbreak, but no. This. This was heartbreak. This is what they meant when they said that a broken heart could kill a person. This feeling, this was something that she doesn't think she'll ever recover from.

Taylor continued to sip her coffee that had run cold as she stared blankly outside of the window. It was their fifth year anniversary, but the thought of celebrating had turned her stomach into knots. She didn't want to celebrate. She didn't want to commemorate the last year of their love if their love was tainted. She knows that he's sorry. She knows that he's trying everything in his power to make up for it. She knows that he's going to go above and beyond tonight, but she doesn't want that. She doesn't want to even share a bed with him, let alone sit at a candle lit dinner as she listens to him talk about how much he loves her and how he's " Excited to see what the future holds for them" when she's not even sure if their is a future for them.

Her phone pings, she knows the set notification sound, it's from her mother.

Happy Anniversary to you guys,

I hope today is amazing. Don't worry about the cats, they're all fine, enjoy tonight!

-Mom x❤️

She knows her mom means well and she appreciates the gesture, but she hates the thought of her mom agreeing to watch the cats for him to take her out. Things weren't the same. They didn't interact the same way. They didn't speak to each other the same way. They didn't share a bed anymore. She missed him, she missed him being her best friend, she missed the long nights of slow dancing in the middle of their kitchen, she missed being held, but that was all before love came to kill them. She loved him. She's still in love with him.

The front door slams shut, indicating that he's home. He walks into the living room to find Taylor staring out of the window. Something's different about her, she's different. And he knows that it's all his fault. He hurt her and he feels as if he had shattered her entire being. He's trying, but it's as if she doesn't want to forgive and he understands that she has every right not to, but what's the point of even staying together if she won't even share a bed with him? He walks over to her, Lilies in hand along with an expensive ring that she had been looking at for the last couple of months. He knows they can't afford it, but he wants to see her smile again, he misses her smile. He's saving the ring for later and puts it in his pockets. He also knows that proposing might not be the right answer to the situation, but he doesn't know what else to do. He's given her time and space, he's apologized numerous times, he's given her every password to everything he has, he's broken ties with the other woman, but nothing seems to bring Taylor back. He just wishes that he'd never stepped out.
