Chapter 9: A New Old Friend

(Y/N) POV

Well, I was right about one thing, at least. Taking that hit for Bakugo hurts like hell right now. I barely just woke up and I can already feel my bones just screaming out in pain. It's nothing I can't handle, but damn it's annoying.

(Y/N): "Fuuuuuu-huhuhu-huuuuuck."

Yup. Definitely in pain. Probably should have stayed in the hospital longer than... like 4 hours, but I never said I was smart. I might be in pain, but I still have things I need to do today. First being...Mina.

Talking to her. Not...not doing her. It sounded like I was implying...yeah, no. Not this time.

: 'what do you mean 'not this time'?'

(Y/N): 'Ah, shut up Voice, or I'll turn you Irish.'

: 'I don't know how that's a bad thing.'

(Y/N): 'I just woke up. Give me a while to actually get my brain working before I start to come up with actual threats.'

Putting on some shoes, questioning whether or not to continue on with life or just lie down and let the earth retake me, deciding it would be rude not to talk to Mina about this whole date business, and leaving the house, I see...

Ok, I've seen a lot of things in my time. I've seen a giant made of darkness with tentacles for a face. I've seen a guy whose quirk is basically 'I will break as many bones as I need to as long as you die too'. I've seen a yellow bear with a crippling honey addiction. But not once in my life did I think I would see Bakugo standing in front of my house with a reason other than "I want to kill you" (least I don't think that's his intention this time, judging by his eyes).

Maybe because I haven't known him for too long, I don't know.

(Y/N): "Bakugo?"

Bakugo: "Grrrr..."

(Y/N): "Why are you here?"

Bakugo: "I came here..."

Something is wrong. He's not yelling at me, but he's struggling to speak.

(Y/N): "Your mother is in one of the cars on the street and she's making you thank me for saving your ass from Nomu, Right?"

Bakugo: "GRRRRRRR-!"

(Y/N): "I'll take that as a yes and as your thank you."

I give him a little pat-pat on the head, much to his (seemingly) annoyance.

(Y/N): "Don't worry about. Just say you said thank you. Lying is only wrong if you get caught."

Bakugo: "...Tch."

Walking away, he gets into a car, and I go about my business. I can feel his stare of just...pure Bakugo-ness on my back while I walk down the street but...meh.

I have a feeling I'll get used to it.

Aaaaaand he's flipping me off while he drives away. Jokes on him. I've got the fastest bird-flippin' fingers this side of Texas and/or Japan.
