Falling

The one where you hear 'Falling' by Harry Styles, your ex-boyfriend, on the radio and you realise it's about you. You also realise he really doubted himself during this song and you end up crying and calling him.

"And that was Happier by Bastille, now we have 'Falling' by Harry Styles, who just released his second album this friday" Nicholas, Nick Grimshaw, said. You roll your eyes, wanting to turn the radio on a different station, because you avoid him at all costs, but then you heard him singing.

I'm in my bed
And you're not here
And there's no one to blame but the drink and my wandering hands.
Forget what I said
It's not what I meant
And I can't take it back, I can't unpack the baggage you left

You had a relationship with Harry for almost 2 years. He was drunk and touched an other woman. You talked it out but it was nt good enough to stay with each other. It would end up in a toxic relationship. The first thing you did was packing your overnight back. You left with tears streaming down your face. Harry yelled some words about letting him explain, but you never let him.

What am I now? What am I now?
What if I'm someone I don't want around?
I'm falling again, I'm falling again, I'm fallin'
What if I'm down? What if I'm out?
What if I'm someone you won't talk about?
I'm falling again, I'm falling again, I'm fallin'

It's true, he was right about one thing. You never talked about him when you broke up. But hearing he didn't want to be aroun anymore reallt hurt you. Was it that bad? You could see he was falling when you saw him a couple of times live, watching him on instagram, thanking all the fans they captured the moments they don't understand. Every now and then you would call him, but would quikly hang up the phone again.

You said you care, and you missed me too
And I'm well aware I write too many songs about you
And the coffee's out at the Beachwood Cafe
And it kills me 'cause I know we've ran out of things we can say

You did say you care and that you missed him. You still miss him. You still care but you can't handle to be in a relationship with him, knowing that you only can see him and her in the bar. "Beachwood Cafe", the place where you met. Where you had your first date and where you always went once a week. And he wrote more sings about you? You didn't know, because you actually avoided to listen to his songs.

What am I now? What am I now?
What if I'm someone I don't want around?
I'm falling again, I'm falling again, I'm fallin'
What if I'm down? What if I'm out?
What if I'm someone you won't talk about?
I'm falling again, I'm falling again, I'm fallin'

And I get the feeling that you'll never need me again

You try to hold back your tears, but fail. He reallt thought I never needed him again. That's so far from the truth. I need him so much. Your life was at its best when you were with Harry. You never dated any boy after him, but he doesn't know that. You were seen with boys after your relationship but they were all arranged. You think about all the moments together and you just then realise you still love him.

What am I now? What am I now?
What if you're someone I just want around?
I'm falling again, I'm falling again, I'm fallin'
What if I'm down? What if I'm out?
What if I'm someone you won't talk about?
I'm falling again, I'm falling again, I'm fallin'

The song just ended and you have never felt this bad. You needed to pull your car over so you wouldn't get in car crash. You dial a familliar number. Gemma's. You needed to talk to her first, if that's even possible with the tears streaming down your face. "Nora, is that you?" is the first thing Gemma said when she answered the phone. "It is Gem, it is."  You sob trough the phone. "Are you crying sweets?" Gemma asked. You nod but then realise you are talking trough the phone so she won't see you nodding. "Yes, I am. Blame your brother" You said. "What did he do now?" A sofft scoff is heard trough the phone.

You giggle and respond "He wrote a song Gem, a song about one of our moments and him feeling not worthy of himself anymore. Does he thinks I hate him?" Gemma chuckles, "Nora, he doesn't. He hates himself, like you said he thinks he isn't worth it anymore, but he would never hate you." She says. He really doesn't hate me? That's like impossible. I hang up abruptly.

I dial the all too familiar number. "Hello?" The raspy voice says. "Harry?" I whisper to Harry. "Nora?" He gasps. "Yes H, it's me." I sigh. "I thought you hated me? Like for good?" He says just loud enough for me to hear. "Harry, I could never hate you even if I tried. I, I just got of the phone with Gemma and we talked about you. Nick decided to play 'Falling' and I listened to it. It's an amazing song H" You compliment him. "You heard 'Falling'? Are you for real?" You chuckle and say "I did. I'm so sorry I made you feel like that sweets" You hear Harry sigh. "Babygirl, it wasn't your fault and we both know that" You let out a sob and the tears came back. "Will we ever be okay again Harry?" You said. And a long pause is heard. "I honestly don't know." Harry replies.

They talked for a while over the phone. He explained a few of his songs to her. After a couple of months they started to hang out with each other. Making each other fall in love with them again, but they were too scared to admit it. After a good year and a half she decided to make the first move. Couple weeks later they sarted to date again. It went with its ups and downs, but they made it to the end.
