"The egg, it wasn't destroyed!" I said with wonder. "But how did it get here?"

"I don't know, but I don't think that it belongs here." Was Ezran's reply, sweet, innocent Ezran.

A sweet innocent Ezran whom I agreed with. "Yes, I agree, but we can't exactly lug it all the way back to Xadia. Ezran, we need to take it to the Banther Lodge. There we can figure it all out. But we can't stay here."

Ezran looked up at me, his gaze trusting, but still smarter than many would think. He grabbed the egg and slipped it into a small backpack that was laid nearby. He had to dump some horns, hair, eyeballs, skin, bones and other such things before he could put the egg in, but after it was empty, it held the egg snugly. But we decided to add an extra layer of padding to protect it, so we wrapped a long black cloak around it and then moved on.

Ezran put it onto his back and followed me out. Ezran took the lead after a little while of confusion on my part, since Ezran knew this labyrinth and I didn't. He lead me to the exit nearest the gate, and from there I took the lead.

We traveled a good distance on the road to the east, and stopped to sleep until sunrise after a few hours. Our trek to the lodge was largely uneventful, until the elves caught up.
