- Year: 1995

We've boarded the next EuroTrain to England and it's set to arrive in half an hour. Now, we're waiting at the station and it's 10pm.

"Grandma, I need the bathroom"

"Okay, hurry back now!"
I walk in the corridor and immediately see the females' bathroom. I walk in and shut the door then I call my boyfriend to tell him that I'm pregnant.

Phone conversation:
"Hello."

"Hey baby." he responds

"I'm 7 weeks pregnant and it's yours." I say

"What? It can't be. I pulled out."

"You idiot! If you had pulled out I wouldn't be pregnant now, would I!"

"That baby isn't mine. I know for a fact I pulled out."

"You son of a bitch, I gave you my virginity. You know what? Screw you!" I yell on the verge of crying, then hang up the phone

I then take my sim card out of my iPhone 6, and chew up the sim card until it's in smithereens and I spit the pieces into the dustbin and walk out of the bathroom.
I walk back to Grandma and I find her taking our bags into the train so I help her. We've packed our bags and now we're getting comfortable as the train prepares for lift off.

"Are you ready for a new life in Manchester?" Grandma asks me

"As I'll ever be." I say touching my stomach and a little tear comes down my left cheek.

*9 months later*
Location: Spire Manchester Hospital, England.

"Well done, my child you've given life." says Grandma

The nurse hands me my baby girl wrapped in a pink mini blanket. I take a look at the baby and she's a splitting image of her father, but has my eyes and nose.
Light drops of tears fall down my cheeks as I take off the other half of my heart-shaped necklace and place it gently onto her neck.
The nurse then comes in with documents in her hand.

"I apologise for being a bother. The documents I'm holding are adoption papers you, the mother of the child and the guardian both need to sign." "That's if you'd like to give the baby up for adoption." she says

"Yes, I'd like to give her up for adoption." I say while Grandma and I sign the papers and hand them to the nurse. She then walks out of the room and comes back with a family whom I believe is the adopters.

"Hello. We would like to adopt your daughter. Various doctors have told us that we cannot have children." says the woman

"We're from Nigeria, but moved to England two years ago." the man adds

"We approve of the adoption. And please take care of her, treat her as if she were your own." says Grandma.
Grandma gives the nurse her polaroid camera to take a photo of us and the adopters.

"Everybody say new born baby!" says the nurse

"Newborn baby!" we all say in unison
I give the baby a kiss on the forehead and hand her over to the woman .

"Please take care of her." Grandma says again
"Please give this to her." I say handing the couple the other half of my small heart-shaped pendant.

The couple reassures us that they'll treat my baby girl like an egg and walk out of the room with the baby in hand.

"My dear, I'm so proud of you! And I love you"

"Thank you, Grandma. I love you too" I say lightly sobbing
