there is a girl

there's a girl i know

that spreads more warmth

than a sunrise in the summer

of a small carolina town

some divine femininity of a girl

who scarcely sees her eyes

as lustful and has a deep smile that

invites the heart to the surface

this woman sleeps in old flannels

that are much too big

and wears modest underwear

that hugs her every delicious curve

she has hair that steps out of place

and glasses that keep hiding her face

and it doesn't matter if she changes either

because she exudes beauty no matter what

she wakes up eager to hold onto her dreams

and goes to sleep eager to wake up

to drink coffee for the pleasure of the taste

and not for the mere ability to help her think

she has scars and flaws

that make her human, not different

and though she doesn't love them

she isn't ashamed when they show

and this girl is me
