I jump, as I heard the banging get louder and more consistent.

"I'm coming!" I yell out, walking towards the door.

As I get to the door, I open it and see two men, looking at me. Two, naked men.

I walked out and closed the door behind me, so as to not allow the girls to see them.

"Can I help you?" I asked, trying not to look below their shoulders.

"Where is Alpha?" They ask.

My heart races a million miles an hour. I end up in a panic frenzy, and drop to the floor, against the door, hyperventilating.

Surely they don't know Michael, could they? He wouldn't have sent them to drag the girls and I back to him?

"What Alpha?" I asked, "Michael is not here."

One of the men knelt in front of me, looking into my eyes.

"Are you alright?" He paused, "we are looking for our Alpha, he lives here."

I glance up at his face, studying his features.

"What?" I ask, dumbfounded.

"We are looking for Darius." The standing man answered.

Suddenly, the door opens and I jerk backwards into it.

Darius leans down, to help me up.

"What are you doing on the floor?" He asks, supporting me up.

"I, uh," I paused, not sure of how to answer that question.

"What's the issue, boys?" Darius asks, as I stand up.

"There's trouble in the woods, boss." The man replies, as he stands up.

"What kind of trouble?"

"There's someone from another pack in our territory," he pauses, "We aren't sure if they're a threat, but they definitely don't smell right."

Darius turns to look at me, then replies.

"Marcus, you stay here with Alecia," he paused, "Alex, you come with me."

They both nod in agreement.

"I'll be back, soon." Darius glances at me, walks away, and shifts.

Darius and Alex run off into the woods.

I turn to look at Marcus, he was already looking at me.

"I'll, uh, I'll grab you some pants." I explain, as I point to his nakedness.

Marcus chuckles, "That's fine."

I run inside, grab a pair of pants from Darius' drawers, in his room, and walk back out.

"Here you go." I say, as I hand them to him.

"Thanks."

He slips the pants on, and stands upright.

I look down and notice how toned his torso and stomach are.

"You are really..." I pause, "fit. You're really fit."

"I guess so." Marcus laughs.

"Would you like to come inside?" I offer, gesturing towards the door.

"Sure." He replies.

As we walk inside, and head to the kitchen, Lanie and Marsha were sitting on the floor in the loungeroom reading.

They look up and stare at Marcus as he walks in.

"Who is that?" They say in sync.

"This is Marcus, he is Darius' friend." I replied.

"Oh, ok."

"Hi, pups." He greets, waving.

Marsha smiles, but Lanie looks wary.

Marcus turns and looks at me.

"I'm sure they'll warm up to me." He says.

"Eventually." I smirk.

"Darius told us that you are new here." He waves his hand around the cabin.

"Uh, yeah." I reply, nervously.

"He told me that you had pups," he pauses, "but you don't smell like a shifter."

"Well, yeah." I'm not sure how to respond.

"Oh well," he smiles, "There's plenty of half/half out there."

"I guess so." I pause, walking around to stand at the kitchen bench "So, where have they gone?"

"There's been someone stalking our territory, a few kilometres out," he sighs, "We have to find them and tell them to leave. Because they obviously aren't part of our pack."

Anxiety hits me like a truck, and I start shaking, my legs feeling like jelly.

"Are you alright? You don't look good." Marcus asks.

"Not really." I respond, as I start walking to the front door, to sit on the front porch.

Marcus follows me, and sits beside me.

He sits beside me in silence, studying my reaction.

A few moments later, he asks, "What happened to you?"

I start crying.

"Darius saved us from an Alpha of a different pack, and hid us here." I reply, starting to choke.

"Is that what happened to your arm?"

"Among other things." I mumble, "I just hope that it's not him."

"It will be alright," Marcus pauses, "You are safe with us. Everywhere is guarded nightly."

I nod.

"Thank you." I say.

"So, do you think you'll be staying with us?"

"I would like to," I reply, "But, we have no choice. We have nowhere else to go."

Marcus nodded.

We sat in silence for a while, looking at the scenery. There was a little wooden shed towards the edge of the woods, which I'm assuming is to store logs for the winter. The front lawn is covered in lush green grass, and dandelions swaying in the subtle breeze.

I close my eyes and breathe in the clear air.

My eyes fly open as I hear rustling coming from the side of the house.

Marcus does the same.

Darius and Alex walk out from beside the house, and head towards Marcus and I.

"We found them." Alex states, and looks around beside the house, "You coming?"

I stare at their direction, waiting to see who emerges from there.

Darius jogs into the wooden shed, and runs back out a few moments later with pants on and a pair for Alex.

So that's what the shed is for, I thought to myself.

He makes his way to me, and kneels down beside me, on the chair.

"Come on, it's fine. We don't bite," Alex snickers, "hard."

"Can I have a shirt?" A ladies voice asks.

"Oh, right." Darius, exclaims, "give me a minute."

He disappears, then reappears with an overly large shirt. Tosses it to Alex, who then passes it to the anonymous person around the corner.

A moment later, she struts out from beside the house, her long blonde hair hanging below her waist.

She turns to look at me, and a big smile spreads across her face, focused at me.
