"Riley!" I yelled from downstairs.
I walked to the kitchen as you hear the rapid pace of his feet on the wooden stairs.
"Hey." He smiled running his hands through his hair, combing it with his fingers. He walked over for a quick hug.
"I'm glad you're here and all but why?" He smiled pulling away from our hug a little but his arms still wrapped around me.
I pulled away from our hug and shoved my hands into the pockets of the hoodie I was wearing. "Well, I saw you were having a bad night; so I thought I would bring by some movies, or we could go grab some sushi."
He rubbed his face with his sleeves of the sweatshirt he was wearing. "How about just a walk?"
"Sounds good to me, I'm down for what ever. Just thought you could use a friend right now." I said looking down.
"Thank you for that." He said, he grabbed his Doc Martins and slipped them on and laced them up tightly. "Mom; I'm going on a walk!" He yelled through the house not sure of were she was.
His mom walked into kitchen a second later, waving politely "Hi Emma, I didn't know you were here." She smiled while holding a laundry on her hip.
"Sorry, I kinda let myself in." I said smiling nervously.
"No, no, no, it's okay sweetie. You're welcome here anytime." She turned to Riley. "Be back in an hour."
"Moooom!" He whined.
"Jack is gone, I need helping putting the kids to sleep." She said raising her eyebrows. I giggled at Riley because I knew he hated this.
He sighed and shrugged "Yes ma'am." He knew better than to argue with her.
We walked over to the door. As we opened it, a gust of wind blew in sending chills up my spine.
"You sure you're okay to go on a walk?" He asked putting his hand on my back, before quickly removing it.
I looked at him, "Yeah I'm fine." I smiled faintly before taking a step out of the door.
We began walking down the street. We had no clue where we were going, how we were going to get there, or how we were going to get back. None of that mattered tho. All that matter was me being with my best friend, and knowing he was okay.
We walked around for 45 minutes talking about everything on God's green earth. About why people were the way they are, and how we have very low faith in humanity now days. All the good things everyone else is to scared to talk about.
By the time we got back to Riley's, I was exhausted and it was only 9:30. I got into my car as Riley stood on his porch waving goodbye.
"God damn it Riley, you aren't making this easy." I mumbled under my breathe. I smiled, blinking away a few tears.
