"When the moon fell in love with the sun, all was golden in the sky. All was golden when the day met the night..."

"Reagan," a quiet voice called. "Reagan!" the girl's voice grew louder and louder as I regained alertness. Once my eyes were fully opened, I found myself face-to-face with that dark-haired, green-eyed girl I just met, Katy. She stared at me and giggled.

"You ready to start your new life in Colorado?"

I nodded, wiping the sleep from my eyes.

It always took me awhile to talk after waking up from a deep sleep.

I grabbed my bag from the cubby and headed off the plane to get the rest of my luggage. Katy followed behind me closely, retrieving her bags immediately after I did.

"We have to talk again sometime." she demanded as we stood near the airport doors. She proceeded to pull out her phone.

"Here, give me your number, and I'll give you mine."

I reached into my purse and pulled out my phone. Checking the screen quick, I noticed the notifications. All of which were from my parents. I figured this was going to happen. I unlocked my phone for her, and started to type my number into her cell, as she did mine. It took a mere few seconds until we got our phones back.

"Thanks." I smiled.

We began to make our way out of the airport as my phone began to ring.

"Hello?" I whispered.

"Reagan, my darling." my mother answered frantically. "What the hell are you doing in the USA?"

"I explained-"

I stopped, turning my head off to the side, covering my mouth with my hand. My soft glove rubbed against my frozen chin as I spoke.

"It to you in the note," I continued. "I was excepted to the U of C."

"Why didn't you tell me?" she asked, choking upon her words.

Oh, mom. Please don't do this. Not while I'm in public.

"I tried to find the right time to do it, but it never came." I sighed, adjusting the phone in the palm of my hand. "I'm so sorry, mom."

There was no reply, only a sniffle from the other line.

"Look, can we talk about this later?" I growled.

"That's fine." she muttered. "Please stay safe."

"I will. Bye, mom." I blurted, hanging up before she could say another word.

I looked over at Katy, who seemed stunned. Hopefully she didn't hear too much of the conversation.

Trying to ease the tension, I shot her a warm smile. Her state made me uneasy, but eventually lightened up as she smiled back at me.

"My ride's here." she cried, wrapping her arms around my non-expectant body. "Take care, Reagan. We'll talk soon."

"You too." I smiled, lightly patting her on the back.

She began to make her way to the car, looking back at my to wave. I waved back as she got into the passenger's seat. The man driving the car looked awfully familiar, like I've seen him somewhere. His hair was brown and slightly curly, and his eyes appeared to be a dark green. Where have I seen this man before? Our eyes met for a split second before he put the car in gear and drove off.

I picked up my bags off the snow-covered ground and sighed. There was still another twenty minutes until my taxi was scheduled to arrive, so I headed back into the airport and to a food court. I was unfamiliar with the building, so I sat down at a nearby table and ordered a café mocha.
