"Your eyes are the size of the moon..."

Gabe's POV

---

First, I get a healthy scratch from last night's game, and now I'll never see Reagan again. Patrick had her fired, and I never even got the chance to get her number. I know Matt's close friends with her, but I really didn't want anyone to know about my... Infatuation with Reagan.

"What do you want to eat?" Matt asked, awaking me from my daze.

"A cheeseburger from anywhere." I shrugged, clearly sounding out of it.

We walked down the snow-covered streets of Downtown Colorado until we came across a Wendy's. Quickly, we entered the building and placed our orders.

"It's too Goddamn cold!" Matt chuckled, removing his coat and draping it over the back of his chair.

"I grew up in Sweden, Matt." I retorted, "You don't know cold until you've been to Sweden."

Matt just rolled his eyes and smiled.

"Hey, Ontario can get pretty chilly, too." he added, trying to one-up me.

"Call me when you've been to Sweden." I chuckled. The smile faded quickly from my face once I saw one person I never thought I'd see again.

"Son of a--." I mumbled, blocking my face with my hand.

"Oh, my God!" the girl shrieked, "Is that you, Gabriel?"

Her voice was high-pitched and echoed across the restaurant, causing people to glare disapprovingly in our direction. I cursed under my breath as she approached me.

"How've you been, babe?" she asked, almost as if we were actually on speaking terms.

Truth is, I dumped her ass months ago. Only after finding out she was a complete puckbunny; knowing nothing about hockey, and using my money to buy expensive jewelry, clothes and an SUV without my permission. Gold digger, shall I say.

"Fine." I growled, being forced against the wall by her body squeezing into the booth next to me.

I looked up at Matt, whose face was partially hidden, and beet red from silent laughter.

"You ass." I mouthed to him and he continued to hold in his laughter.

"Summer, I, uh, thought you moved to New Mexico..?" my voice trailed off, ending in an awkward chuckle.

"I did." she smiled, "But I came back for you."

Jesus Christ, can't she take a hint?

"Well, you're a little late," I blurted, "I've found someone else now."

He eyes widened, and her chin dropped to the floor.

"Who?" she cried, slamming her hands onto the table.

"Her name's Reagan." I replied quickly, not thinking before I spoke. I watched as Matt's face turned from a bright red to pale in milliseconds. His jaw hit the floor almost the same way Summer's did.

"How could you, Gabe?" she said in a huff, trying to comprehend what I'd just said. "I thought what we had was special!"

"Uh," I started, but was quickly interrupted by her annoyingly squeaky voice.

"We're over!"

And with that, she was gone. Out of my life. Forever, hopefully. I breathed a sigh of relief and watched as Matt's eyes fixed on me with a clever smirk.
