"Patrick?" I questioned, knocking on the door. "It's Reagan LeBeau."
"Yes, yes," he called through the door. "Come in!"
I opened the door slightly, only giving enough room for me to poke my head through. There were papers sprawled across his desk, and a picture of his family proper up on his messy desk. His face said it all. He was stressed, and there was no doubt about it. The season had just come to a close, and draft season would soon be approaching.
"I've called you in here because I've had a slight change of heart." he cleared his throat. "If you're still interested, I have another opening at the shop upstairs available for you, Ms. LeBeau."
"That's awesome." I smiled. "You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you so much!"
I stood up and reached my hand over his desk, awaiting a handshake. He shook it firmly, giving me a nod.
"Great to here it, Reagan." he clapped his hands together. "I'll have the position ready for you this upcoming season."
I thanked him once more and started over towards the door of his office before he interrupted, "And say hello to your father for me, darling." he said with a wink.
I nodded and smiled before exiting the room.
Van's car was awaiting me outside the Pepsi Center. I ran towards him and hopped in.
"You'll never believe what just happened!" I cried, placing a kiss upon his cheek.
"Shoot." he smiled, leaning over towards me from the driver's seat.
"I got my job back at the Pepsi Center!" I said, holding his face between my palms. "Isn't this great?"
He looked out the windshield with sadness in his eyes, then stared back at me.
"Yeah, uh, great!" he replied, kissing me.
I pushed him away slightly, leaning back into my seat.
"Just take me back to my apartment, please."
---
It was currently 4:23 in the afternoon, and I couldn't contain my excitement any longer. I wanted to tell Matt and Katy earlier, but I ended taking a long nap instead.
After the proposal, Katy and I made up, and we've returned to being best friends.
I slipped on my boots and jacket, then pulled a toque over my head. As I stepped outside, I could tell the weather was starting to warm up, and the sun began to peak out from behind the clouds and melt the snow.
It's great having a friend that lives only one building away from you.
A mere two minutes later, I found myself near the front door of their apartment, debating whether or not I should just barge in unannounced. They'd always told me to do so if I wished, and even gave me a key. So, u did.
"Hey! Matt, Katy, guess wha-"
I turned my head quickly as I found them, lips-locked, and Katy on top of Matt. They were fully clothed, but that made it no less awkward.
"Oh, shit." I muttered, covering my eyes with my hand. "Sorry."
Before I had the chance to look back, I was welcomed by the sound of their laughter at my discomfort. I looked back at them; they were now just sitting incredibly close to one another, with Matt's arm around her.
"Don't worry about it." Matt chuckled, waving a hand at me. "Come in, sit down!"
I slipped my boots and jacket off and walked in. As I walked around the coffee table and in front of the two, I couldn't help but notice Katy wiping her lips off slightly.
