Each Snowflake

Bang Bang Bang Bang!

Bang bang bang! I flick my eyes open. Bang bang bang bang! I shove off the covers and run over to my door to see who it is. I look through the eye hole and see Amber. I open the door and she rapidly starts talking.

"Get some warm clothes on and get Leo up! Then meet me in the lobby in 10 minutes!" She says as she runs down the hall back toward the elevator.

"Wait! What's happening?" I say.

"The storm is here." She says as the doors to the elevator close.

I look to my right to see out the window in the hall. Snow is falling heavy. I can't even see the lights on the ski lifts. I run to my dresser and put on a pair of jeans, boots, a big coat, and a beanie. I run to Leo’s door but see a pink note taped up on it. I look around to make sure no one is looking. I take it and slide it into my pocket. I knock on his door and he walks out moments later. The only thing on his body is a pair of long black pants, leaving his torso naked. A breath escapes my lips as I force myself to look up. I try my hardest not to notice the shadows on his abdomen.

"What's going on? Are you alright?" He says with a tired voice.

Another breath escapes my lips. His voice sounds rough and deeper. I try to stay focused.

"I'm fine. You need to get dressed."

"Why?"

"The storm's here." I point to the hall window to my right. "We need to hurry."

I walk passed him into his room. He follows me. He pulls a black Slim Fit V-neck on. He then pulls off his pants.

"Oh, sorry." I say turning away from him.

He gave a short laugh. I fix my beanie while I wait for him to put some pants on.

"Alright let’s go." He says.

We eventually arrive in the lobby and see Amber coming in from the blizzard. She puts a box down and pushed all her brown hair out of her face.

"Hurry!" She says "Follow me!"

We run outside with her. Snow hits my face and hands, stinging them. I squint closed my eyes to try and see where I'm walking in the snow. I also bring my arms up to catch my balance in the strong winds. I look to my left and see Amber and Leo walking away.

"Wait up!" I say.

I run down the path, towards them. When I catch up I hit ice, and slip. I grab the back of Leo coat on the way down.

"Whoa!" Leo says as he falls with me.

I fall hard on the ice, and he falls next to me.

"Sorry!" I say, really embarrassed!

Amber turns around to see what all the commotion is about.

"What are you guys doing?" She asks.

She walks over and reaches out both her hands to each of us. I grab one hand and he grabs the other. She helps us up.

"Hurry!" She says.

We work on getting all the boxes out of the den. My hands are past freezing by the time we are done. My arms are too numb to move. Also, my one leg really hurts because of the fall.

"Help me lock up." Amber says to Leo.

I hear the banging of the doors as I walk back inside.  Leo and Amber walk in and I follow them to a back room. Leo and I sit at a break-room table. Amber walks over to a cabinet and grabs two radios out.

"Okay guys. Obviously what just happened was an emergency. So, here are some walky-talkies,"

She places them on the table in front of us.
