VOULEZ-VOUS

EZRA DIGS THE GLASS out of my feet when the four of us get back to mine and Marisol's hotel room. As we all lay around waiting for my wounds to heal (which doesn't take all that long), the three of them talk about American theatre and yell over each other, trying to explain it to me.

Marisol plays songs from the show they had all been, Mamma Mia!—though Ezra was in a different production than the girls. We shove our faces with "real-world goodies" as they argue which song to teach me—finally settling on "Voulez-Vous".

Other than the alphabet, the Mamma Mia! original cast recording is my first introduction to the English language.

Our last evening in Greece is spent teaching me the lyrics—and their translations—and coming up with our own choreography, most of which involves spinning and jumping up and down. When we try to sing the song, instead of actually singing, we all just shriek at each other.
