My name is Benadir and I'm 12 years old. I live in Ethiopia, a country located in Africa. We have just joined the League of Nations despite Italy's opposition. The Italians are threatening to invade as they hold our neighbours Somalia. Italy have built a watch fort on the border and our government is complaining to the League of Nations. They have just snubbed us off and Italy is in Wal Wal, our major city. My two brothers have been killed by the nasty Italians! My cousins have gone to work at the new Geberlassie Military Hospital in Adis Ababa. Our army is too outdated to fight the Modern Italy. They have tanks and jets cornering us in Eritrea and Somalia. My Aunty has just announced they are invading! They crossed the Mebo river and are advancing toward Adis Ababa! Our only option of safety is the Middle East. They have taken Adigrad and Agawa. Also, one of our top generals, Duke Ngwego has been executed by Italians. The Italian General De Bono, has issued slavery orders for girls between 13-18 as they are re creating the fascist regime that they have in Italy. An Italian pilot died the other day so they are bombing us with Mustard gas. My cousins have died, they bombed the hospital. They are also using poisonous gas to destroy whole regiments of our army. We are trapped in the bunker of of our house as only rich people are allowed to sneak through the tunnels leading to Sudan. I wish I could find a way to drive this greedy, selfish, stupid idiots out of our motherland.
