Chapter XI Bullies

Standing from several meters away, I looked at the enormous silver gates which are designed with the intricacy of musical instrument and musical ensembles. The gates are around 25 meters in height and 14 meters in width. This isn't my first time here, but this is definitely my first time going alone. The Seraphim Knight Academy, the home and school for half angels.

How would I enter? There's no way I would be climbing over the walls or going inside the gates disguised as someone. It was always possible for me to enter the academy's grounds because of Judiel, we always fly when we enter that's why there's no need for us to enter through the gates.

The gates opened for the incoming limousine that is convoyed with three black vans. I watched closely as how the gates automatically opened.

I have my wings, but how do I summon them? Can I fly without being detected? Can I even fly? I left the main entrance and went to the nearest secluded area. I am going to do this. I closed my eyes and focused, I dunno what to think I just let out whatever energy flowing inside my body to take control. Then, I can feel it happening, there is an unusual sensation flowing through the whole course of my back, and then it's happening, I am able to sprout wings. Gray magnificent wings, I look at them in awe and ordered them to flap. There was a surge of air stirring in front of me after my attempt. This is so cool. I tried flapping them again, this time I'm flapping continuously. I can feel levitating from the ground as I ascend and ascend without realizing that I am already 30 feet above ground. I steadied and slows my flapping, barely enough to keep me in mid air. I inhale some fresh air and starts defying the wind, I pushed my wings forward so that I will be able to move to my desired direction. Flying is so exhausting, it needs control and patience. Every time I attempt to move forward, I ascend instead and vice versa so I am memorizing every move I take to be able to gain control. I can feel my energy draining and I couldn't afford to waste it and fall to my death. I urge my wings to fly beneath the cirrus clouds and surge through, slowly towards the open arena which is now visible in my view. I fly and hovered right above the circular field. The problem now is how to take off. My plan is quite risky by I did it nonetheless, I closed my eyes and urged my wings to tuck, they were successful to shrink and the next step of my plan is to call my friend's name.

"Judiel!" I yelled.

I'm falling and falling. Free falling. There's still no sign of movement in the air. This is so foolish. I'm 25 feet above ground, 20, 19, 18, 17 and swoop. Someone hugged me from the back. My savior, but I can feel this is not my friend and this one is no good news. The one who is flying me right now is Danielle, I am certain of it.

"Are you planning a suicide?" he asks me as we glided towards the field. "It's none of your business," I replied right after we landed. His wings looked different, they weren't made in feathers, they looked like bat wings, but furry.

"What are you?" I ask him. He has already tucked his beastly wings. "It's none of your business," he smirked.

"Are you following me?"

"Who are you to follow? You are not even a celebrity."

"Why are you here? What are you doing here?"

"I should be the one asking you that. Why are you not in the institute? Friar Timothy has been looking for the two of us with elder brother Ejy and Kay. As you know we were brought here by a black van."

"Why would they call us here?"

"Who knows? Maybe to face some kind of tribulation for being a demon."

"And what of Ejy and Kay?" I ask further.

"Why do you keep questioning me?" Danielle looked pissed off as he turns his back and walked away from me.

"Hey?!" I called but he didn't listen and continued walking. I followed him.

The weather is great today, the afternoon sun is out shining in a cloudless sky. Everything is perfect, or so I thought it would be perfect when two demi-angels appeared from the side of the benches and blocked Danielle.

"Oh, look what we have here. One monster and one," the tall guy with a vibrant aura in green shirt and khaki pants looked at my direction, scanning me while the other guy about my age wearing the same top and blue faded jeans continued sipping his ice tea. I recognized these two, they were the same demi-angels who bullied me from my first encounter with Judiel. "Demon," he finishes with a smirk.

"Hey Thomas, what do you think are we going to do with these two?" The khaki guy motioned at the guy at his side.

"What do we do with demons? What did the Seraphim Knight Academy teach us to do when we encounter demons?" Thomas asks his friend while throwing the plastic in the process. "We fend them off," they said in unison, summoned their swords and attacked us. Danielle faced khaki guy while Thomas strikes me with his sword which I barely evaded from moving to the right. I run into the arena and grabbed my customized daggers.

"Oh, so you're prepared huh?" He is going to change his pace, I can tell from the way he is gripping the hilt of his sword. I was right, his movements become faster. My daggers clash with his golden sword. Thomas gritted his teeth and pushed me away, I was thrown away by the push then he followed me, pointing his sword to my chest. Shockingly, I was able to block his attack. He opened his wings, they are blue in colors, and the feathers look delicate like they were made of glass.

"Prepare to die demon!" he yelled, pointing the edge of his sword at my direction, he glided his wings backwards and shouted; "Drago Surge!" A massive entity of strong force of water taking the shape of a serpentine dragon emerged from the edge of his sword and spiraled towards my direction. The ferocious water dragon opened its mouth, ready to devour me. Consumed with disbelief I was immobilized. The dragon was about a meter away from me when it dissipated into thin air.

Judiel was right in front of me, pointing his rapier at Thomas who is now looking very angry.

"Judiel," I blurted out his name but he didn't face me.

"What's the meaning of this? Don't tell me you're going to side that demon?" Thomas reprimanded Judiel.

"I'm not siding anyone. But you shouldn't treat our guests like this," Judiel spoke with his soft voice.

"Guests you say? When did the academy accept demons as guests?"

I can hear clashing of swords from above. Danielle and the khaki guy were parrying their swords in the benches.

"Enough!" I heard a very strong loud voice from who knows somewhere, Danielle and the khaki guy stopped parrying.  A monk appeared right in front of us. A circle of black beads was around his neck.

Khaki guy descended from the benches and landed next to his friend, while Danielle did the same and landed next to me.

"Friar Matthew," Judiel and the two bowed their heads.

"Rise," the monk said. "From now on, good demons are now one of us and they're going to learn here with us."

The faces of the demi-angels contorted in disbelief.

"Are you serious Father?" Khaki guy queried.

"This is the cause of Michael's descent, he was ordered to tell us to unite us with them, good demons."

"And since when did the demons become good?" Thomas rebutted with an angry look.

"Let us not talk about this here," he motions at the demi-angels. "Now go to the dormitories."

The demi-angels bowed their heads and on they go, including Judiel.

"Solace," Friar Matthew called, Judiel turns to face us, he is wearing the same shirt as those two, but his lower is a pair of shorts.

"Yes Father?"

"Come with us at the conference room."

"I'll follow Father, I have to go to my room to change my clothes first."

Friar Matthew nodded his head and on he went.

There's something strange about my friend, he's changed. He is so formal now.

"And you two, come with me."
