Prompt: pets
John's POV
"Morning John! Coming in for another?" Lou grinned and I nodded, looking at the kittens he had in the basket.

"Yeah, it's the other half's birthday" I smiled and he came over and picked up one of the kittens for me to see.

"How about this one? She's very sweet and calm, I think you'll like her" he handed the little one over and I held her to my chest, stroking her tiny head. She was so calm and she even tried to lick my hand which I found absolutely adorable.

"I love her... you were right" I smiled and Lou chuckled as I handed the kitten back over and looked at the other four in the basket. They all were so small and they were all so inquisitive when I reached down to pet them, "how much would it be for all of them?"

"About one-fifty, are you thinking of it?" He asked and I nodded.

"Yeah, I don't want to leave them here, they're all so gorgeous" I said and Lou nodded with a small smile.

"That's no problem, John, come with me" he put the kitten down in the basket and went over to the register as I got out my wallet.

I paid for all of them and just took the basket of tiny kittens, thanking him as I went out the door and walked home. I tried to be quiet but Freddie rushed out to the door and screamed when he saw the basket, "John! What the-where did you get those?!" He looked at them then at me with this little frown on his face.

"I got them from Lou... for your birthday" I smiled and he put his hand over his heart before he picked two of them up and cuddled them.

"Oh I love them... thank you, thank you!" He squealed and kissed my cheek then whisked the kitties away to play with them.

Later on in the afternoon, after Freddie had been out doing god knows what, he called me into the living room. "Look, look, they're going to pick their collars" he dragged me over to the sofa then laid out ten coloured collars on the floor and got each kitten out one-by-one. He had them choose by laying the collars out and whichever one they nudged first, that was theirs.

He was a real crazy cat mum but it was adorable
