The courtroom was heated and Barrister Sam was starting to perspire: not from the temperature of the environment but from the sudden alteration of the sequel of events.
It had all started as a straightforward case: a young zealous doctor had lost his fiancée who was suffering from sickle cell disease and suddenly died from kidney failure. She had been on Hemoryden, a drug manufactured by Listhchet Pharmaceutical which was said to be the best in the market for sickle cell patients. This drug was novel, and since it's manufacture, has generate billions to the company. In his grievance, and it began as just a hunch, the doctor had suspected his fiancée had died from side effect of the drug but Kidney failure wasn't listed among the possible side effects. He had talked to his colleagues whom immediately advised him to drop that thought but he didn't, he wouldn't. He went to Listhchet Pharmaceutical and as soon as he mentioned the drug Hemoryden, the air changed, no one wanted to talk to him. It was then the doctor confirmed his suspicions, he suspected foul play.
He started researching and gathering evidence on patients who were on Hemoryden. Two years of research passed before he confirmed that the drug caused kidney failure and by then many people have died, others were already end stage.
The doctor had sued Listhchet Pharmaceuticals. When the company was served, it was a blow: an unimaginable nightmare. The multibillion company would do anything to win the case, to protect their reputation, to keep the drug which was bringing in millions on the market. Besides a lot of patients benefits from the drug, so what if a few patients lives are sacrificed along the way.
So, here they were at the courthouse, at the fifth hearing. What started as an unambiguous case has now deviated. Barrister Sam could've sworn they would win this case but somehow the doctor's research which was to serve as soul evidence in court had mysteriously disappeared.
"... and due to insufficient evidence against Listhchet Pharmaceuticals on the drug Hemoryden..." Barrister Sam heard the judge ruling. The case was suspended.
Meeting the client after loosing a case was even harder than loosing the case itself. He spotted the doctor making his way towards him, he looked so worn out: probably from lack of sleep and sadness.
"Doctor Musa" Barrister Sam extended out his hand for a handshake "I am so sorry"
The doctor took the hand in both his "You did the best you could Barrister" He said, then he shook his head slowly "so this is it?" He continued "even our legal system can't guarantee justice? This drug, Hemoryden, people will die"
Only one man could execute justice: only one man can fix this, Barrister Sam thought. He apologized to the doctor again before he hurriedly left the courthouse. He had a plane to catch.

She heard his car tyres screeching outside the house and when he stormed in angrily into the house, Salma knew immediately that Hajiya had called him and enumerated her so called sins.
