When Prince Zayd Khalid contacted UmarFarouq and informed him he was in the country to see him, UmarFarouq was left astonished.
And now as he waited for the prince to land on his Island, UmarFarouq couldn't help but wonder what it was, so Important that the prince had to travel across continents to come see him.
UmarFarouq sat behind the huge mahogany table in his study. Salma was sitting on the sofa and Sam was on the chair across the table. Ali came in to announce the presence of the prince. Ali's men had escorted him to the island and now he was waiting in UmarFarouq's office.
"Well I shouldn't keep the prince waiting" UmarFarouq said as he stood, he put on the button on his jacket and adjusted his suit before he walked out of the study with Ali leaving Salma and Sam in the study.
"So Sam" Salma initiated a conversation "you are a lawyer? like a real real lawyer?"
"That I am" Sam answered carefully as a matter of fact.
Salma adjusted in her sit to face where Sam was sitting. She began "you don't seem to mind my presence on this island. Have you asked UmarFarouq why I am here or is he above the law?"
The question came as a thunderbolt to Sam, he looked at Salma intently. What insolent, he thought. "What is that supposed to mean?" He asked.
Salma rolled her eyes away before answering "just that I expected more from a robe wearing luminary like you Sam, other than aiding a criminal"
Sam smirked "A criminal? You still don't know who UmarFarouq is, do you?"
"Trust me, I don't care" Salma said and she really didn't care "I just want to be out of this place. You come and go from this island almost everyday, Sam you can help me, please." She begged.
"If UmarFarouq wants you here, I'm sorry but you are not going anywhere"
Salma stood quietly, she threw Sam a dangerous look and for a moment Sam thought she would pick up something and throw at him "I didn't think you would help me" she spat and using the other door that lead to the hall, she exited the study. Sam was left alone, he sighed a relieve that she was gone. Being in the same room with that woman is depressing, he thought, how does UmarFarouq does it.
He took out a book to read while he waited for UmarFarouq's meeting with the prince to be over.
When UmarFarouq entered the office, Prince Zayd Khalid was sitting regally on a chair. He rose with a big smile when he saw UmarFarouq.
"Prince Zayd Khalid, your highness" UmarFarouq greeted. The prince opened his arms wide inviting UmarFarouq for a hug.
"My dear friend, masa 'alkhayr" the prince greeted back.
"Masa 'alkhayr, Khaif halak" UmarFarouq asked.
The prince's mirthfulness was infectious.
"Alhamdulillah" he replied."MashaAllah!" UmarFarouq praised, he led the prince to a sit and they both sat down. "How is her royal highness, Princess Nasreen?" He asked of the wife.
The prince smiled, he replied "She sends her regards"
"You should tell her I will visit soon" UmarFarouq promised "... and the children?"
"Safwan has gone to college..."Prince Zayd Khalid informed and UmarFarouq laughed out loudly. He couldn't believe little Safwan had gone to college already...
"Let me guess, Harvard?" He said. The whole royal family had attended the Ivy League Harvard University, it was a strong family tradition. UmarFarouq had a strong guess if Safwan was attending University, it had to be Harvard.
