The Baudelaires Return

Chapter 4

Klaus was on break when he saw Fiona walk into the library.He smiled and walked over to her."Hello Fiona,Glad for you to stop by."He said.She smiled and looked down at the book in his hand."What to you got there?"She asked.

He looked down at the book and held it up."Oh it's just a book about wolves.I was interested in them a while back.But I never got to read about them."He replied."Ah,I remember reading about them.They are such fascinating creatures."She said.Klaus gave her a soft smile."I'm glad I can share my interests with you.It seems like we have a lot in common."He said.Fiona smiled back at him.Then all of a sudden a familiar man stood behind Fiona.Klaus felt a shiver down his back because it no other than

The Hook-Handed Man.

"Can I help you with something?"Klaus asked as polite and nervous as he was.All of a sudden he was slammed to the side of the book self.The whole library gasped and had there attention on them.Klaus tried to stay calm,but the Hook-Handed man his hook up his neck.

"Where's your fortune,runt!"He growled.Klaus's face darkened and made direct eye contact with him."I'm not telling you where our fortune is!"He snapped.The Hook-Handed man straightened his hook and poked Klaus in the chest."You better start talking or I'll stabbed you to death."The Man yelled."You going kill me right in front of all these people?! In front of your own member from you stupid Theatre group?!"

"It's a Theatre Troupe you stupid immature bastard!"

"Don't you dare call him that!"Fiona cried.

"Shut up! Four eyes!"

"Stop calling her that! You Oaf!"

Then that very second the man intends the stab Klaus in the chest but misses.Klaus slides down the book self quickly as the man's hook is stuck in the self.The Hook-Handed man yanks his hook out of the self and and attempts the stab Klaus again.But instead Klaus uses a book about horses for a shield.Then unexpected the Hook-Handed man slices at Klaus's face and leaves a deep cut across the top of his eye to his cheek.

"Hey! Hey! What's going on here?"Klaus's boss interrupts the match.Klaus drops the book and holds his hands up to his chest."Boss I-"

"You! Guy with the sword hand! Your paying for that book!"He yells at the Hook-Handed man.He growls and picks up the book.Klaus's boss,Mr.Stephen is a young and a bit of a cranky man.Very concerned about Klaus.Being his favorite worker.Mr.Stephen's eyes widened as he noticed the cut on Klaus's face."And we definitely don't cut our workers! Unbelievable!"He snapped.

The Hook-Handed man looked at Mr.Stephen like he was about to stab him with his hook.Then he looked at Fiona."Come on Four eyes,We have work to do.And not deal with these brats."He spat.Her eyes filled with fear as she followed him out of the library."Hey! You still need to pay for this!"Mr.Stephen yelled waving the book in the air.Klaus face filled with anger.But yet he was heart broken for not protecting his love.Then he felt Mr.Stephen's hand go touch his shoulder."That was rough Mr.Baudelaire,I'll give you 5 more minutes on your break."He said.Klaus nodded and sat the chair with the faded lime colored cushion.

Fiona remembered what Violet has told her.She packed her clothes and a few items in a small cloth bag.Then walk downstairs to tell the troupe her "overnight mission".

"What do you want?"One of the powdered-face women spat.Fiona looked down at the ground."I'm going to find evidence about the fortune.It might take a while."She said.The Hook-Handed man beside the women scratched his chin."What's with the bag?"He asked.Fiona swallowed hard."It's going to take a night or two."She lied."You're not going to stay for dinner? It's only 5:37."The other Powdered-Faced women said.Fiona shook her head."I'm not hungry."

"Alright four eyes go on,Don't die."

"I'll try not too."

As she left the house she already felt a weight coming off her shoulders.That she didn't have to hide anything,anymore.

It was approximately six O'clock when Violet,Klaus and Fiona met at the dock.Klaus was quiet surprised to see Fiona.He helped Fiona and his sister into the boat and rowed to back to their island.

"So what brings you here?"Klaus asked Fiona as they finally arrived at the island.She smiled and step in the sand."Your sister invited me to stay here for the night."She said.Violet turned to Klaus as she got out of the boat."I couldn't let her stay another night in the house of that terrible theatre troupe."She said.Klaus looked down at the sand.His sister was all of a sudden concerned."Is something troubling you?"She asked.

Klaus was perfectly fine with his love staying in their house.He was more worried that the theatre troupe were going to find them.He turned to his sister and Fiona."No Violet,Everything is fine."He said with a smile.Klaus then lead them in the house.

Later that night,When everyone was asleep Fiona went into Klaus's room."Klaus,are you awake?"She whispered.Klaus fluttered his eyes."I guess I am now."He moaned.She went over to the other side of the bed and laid next to him."Were you worried about what happened today?"She asked him.He turned to Fiona."I was worried that they might find us,because they might've followed you here or anywhere."He said.Then he smiled."But I guess I don't need to worry about it though."He added.She smiled too as Klaus pulled her closely to his chest.

Fiona felt warm and fuzzy inside.You know the feeling you get when everything is going right and fine and you feel safe.Well,this moment only lasted for a few minutes.Until they heard Sunny and Beatrice yelled and for the three young adults.

They all rushed to the kitchen where the two young ones were at.Sunny was by the window as Beatrice grabbed and paper bag and went into her room."What is going on?"Violet asked concerned.Fiona looked out the window as well.Her face went pale.And she knew why Beatrice did what she did."Sunny go get a paper bag and pack as much as possible."Fiona said quietly.Sunny nodded and ran to her room.

"What on earth is going on?"Violet asked again.Fiona turned to Violet and fear in her eyes."The Theatre Troupe...they found us."

They all quickly packed as much as they could and gathered at then back of the house.Fiona was in tears."How did they find us?"Klaus said as he quickly found another boat."They must've followed me here.I didn't mean-"

"It's okay Fiona,It's not your fault." Violet said calmly.

Klaus quickly piled their things in the boat and told everyone to get in."They're almost here."Sunny said.Violet quickly carried out something very big."Is that an engine?"Klaus asked."It was to my motor boat.I don't know how well this going to work."She said.She grabbed the string attached to the motor and pulled.She pulled again and again and it finally came on.She pushed the boat into the water and quickly jumped in.

They quickly sailed away from the house they've know as there safety zone.Now as there unfortunate events begin now.

Hello! I want to tell you I'm now rereading the original series! I am now on The Reptile Room and I'm actually almost done.I'm rereading it because one) It's absolutely amazing. And two) I will be looking for things I've missed or things I can add in this story.Chapter 5 is now in progress :D
