so @animegurl666 asked: Hey sorry to bug but can you do an imagine where Klaus and the reader are in love but the reader has a secret that she is a witch and werewolf hybrid and she ends up betraying him because she has a son no one knows about but somehow witches find out and take him. They give the reader a choice to kill her son or kill Klaus. Even though she loves Klaus she chose her son. When he finally catches her and interrogates her, he finds out everything about why she did what she did.
here it is, I hope you like it!
You never understood why they talked about "the art of deceit". Surely, something so evil and harmful couldn't be considered as an art, something that was able to arouse such beautiful and unique emotions in whoever watched it.
But then the curious and unknown ways in which life worked put you in a position where you finally understood. It wasn't called art because of its pure nature, rather because it wasn't something for everybody. It needed practice or a valuable reason to be mastered.
Never in a lifetime would you have imagined feeling this guilty about gestures that made you feel only pleasure before.
His hands on your body, caressing it gently and lovingly while you cuddled in his bed, his sweet words and promises of love whenever you felt down made you the happiest girl in the universe.
But that was before. Before it went all to pieces.
When you first met, you told him that you came with a baggage of a past you'd rather forget but that was inevitably bound to you. Knowing the feeling, Klaus never pushed you to tell him about it nor did he want to know about it if you didn't want him to. So you fell in a sweet rhythm that made you forget about the heavy burden you constantly carried on your shoulders even if it was for a little bit. This went on for months and you knew that you wouldn't be able to put it off for much longer, he deserved to know. The fear of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere around your relationship prevented you from speaking to him though.
You could have never foreseen what happened. Knowing the delicate nature of your secret you were always very careful about not letting it slip even in the most vulnerable state. However careful you were it seemed to not have been enough seeing as someone knew what you were hiding.
Of course, being on Klaus' side 24/7 inevitably caught you up in that world you were so hellbent on escaping. In retrospect, you should've figured it out that you would become a target. You knew that Klaus was ill-favoured by the whole of New Orleans. Never did you imagine that they would come after your sweet little boy, James. At the young age of one, he was as innocent as it gets and didn't even know what witches, werewolves and vampires were.
The reason that brought him into this wicked world was one of the reasons you kept him a secret, knowing that he could be used as leverage by the people who were after you. Moving to New Orleans and building a life here with Klaus was a way to start over. Turns out life had other plans for you and put you in a position where you had to choose between your son and your lover. No matter how important Klaus had become to you in these last few months, there wasn't really much to think about. You would gladly give your life if it meant that James would be safe, and they knew it. So your mind was made up despite the aching of your heart at the thought of betraying Klaus knowing very well how hard it was for him to open up and trust people.
You had managed to pull down the walls around his heart only to have a better shot at destroying it, you darkly mused. Nevertheless, there wasn't much you could have done and you hoped that he would understand eventually.
At the reaffirmation that after this the witches of New Orleans would leave James alone, you helped them find the last white oak stake. Understanding the double-sided nature of your position you considered fleeing without looking back. However, you couldn't make yourself do it knowing that you should at least try and speak to Klaus, apologize and try to make him see your reasons. The sound of a knock on your door filled the room and you realized that he had beaten you to it. You walk towards the door knowing who was on the other side so when a force hit you and hold you against a wall you weren't surprised.
"How could you?" he hissed holding your neck in a tight grip. James was sleeping and you preyed that the fight that was about to start wouldn't wake him.
"I can explain." his grip barely allowed you to speak
"What makes you think that I want to listen to your lame excuse?" he spat tightening his grip
"I've never lied to you, not once." you started but was soon interrupted
"An omission of things counts as lying love."
"I told you there were things about my past that I couldn't talk to you about and you said you understood." you weakly protested
"I never imagined that it could have lead you to betray me somehow, I wouldn't have been so understanding otherwise." he retorted loosening a bit his hold on your neck after noticing that you couldn't breathe
"It never would have. It was never my intention to hurt you, please believe me. They didn't leave me much choice when they threatened him."
"So you chose the life of another man over mine? What a fool I was to think that you loved me." pain and shock filled his voice and you knew that it was time to spill the tea
"Not another man no, my son's. They used my son against me." you finally confess not meeting his eyes
Stunned his hand left your neck finally allowing your feet to touch the ground again.
"What?" he worldlessly asked
Without speaking you ask him to follow you and as quietly as you can you open the door of the room in which James was sleeping allowing Klaus to see his little figure on the bed. You heard his breath get stuck in his throat and closed the door after a while returning to the living room.
"I hope you understand that it had nothing to do with you. I would do anything to keep him safe." you softly explain watching him nod in silence
"New Orleans is not safe for you anymore, you should leave." he says after a while and your heart breaks knowing that your relationship was ruined beyond repair.
"Klaus,I-" you start but he soon stops you
"You said it so yourself, you would do anything to keep him safe, well in order to so you have to leave." he says harshly and you nod agreeing with him in silence watching him walk out of your apartment and your life knowing that there's nothing you can say to change things.
