Brandy

"Thank you for staying over." She said as I leaned against the bathroom door frame while I washed my face.

"No problem." I said absently. Coming fully into the bathroom she slid between me and the sink looking up at me. We just stared at each other.

"Why haven't you been returning my calls? One minute you're cool with us then the next you change your mind. What's up?"

"Nothing. Just been busy." I said then walked out of the bathroom. Being so close to that woman had my nerves acting weird.

"That's your answer for everything."

"Well it's the truth."

"I don't believe that."

"I don't care what you believe. I just decided we needed to stop seeing each other."

"Well I don't want to stop seeing you."

"Well that's not my problem."

"Why are you being so mean? What have I done?" I eased my emotions a bit and took a breath.

"I'm sorry." It was just my way of protecting myself. Protecting my heart. She gave a nod and she took a step toward me and I took one back.

"I want you Brandy."

"Its best if we didn't Nancy."

"Why not though? I thought we were having a good time with each other. Then suddenly you don't want me anymore. I mean I had to do something. What was it?"

"Nothing."

"Then why don't you want me near you? You move away every time I try to get near." Not wanting to answer that I said.

"I'm going to sleep on the couch and I'll be out your way in the morning."

"You're not in my way Brandy." I heard the hurt in her voice. Don't look at her I thought to myself but I did anyway. Damn why did she have to be so damn beautiful? Why did her frown make her gorgeous? I sighed.

"Just... can you accept this for me please?" I looked her in her eyes and she bit her bottom lip then nodded her head.

"I'll accept your wishes. I'll get you some blankets." With that she walked off. Once she came back she placed the blankets on the couch and refused to look at me and walked away making her way into her room.

I tossed and turned the whole night. Unable to get the girl that was just upstairs out my mind. Why did I agree to stay? It was easier staying away when I wasn't in the actual house. Sighing I sat up. It was now one in the morning and still I wasn't tired one bit. Damn.

"Can't sleep either?" I looked to find Nancy coming down the stairs.

"No."

"Just going to get something to drink. Want something."

"No I'm fine. Thanks." I watched as she went into the kitchen. With how the couch was positioned in the living room I was able to see Nancy as she bent over in the refrigerator. All she had on was a small gown. Was she doing this on purpose? She knew I was looking. I placed my head back firmly on the pillow forcing myself not to look again. And I lightly laugh at myself.

"This is fuckin torture." I said under my breath.

"You say something?" She asked.

"No." I said turning on my side so that I was facing the back of the couch. Maybe this would help.

"Brandy."

"Hum?"

"Come upstairs." For a second I thought about doing that but instead said.
