trigger warning: self-harm

"Hey, Yuri," Monika hummed, stopping the girl on her way out of the classroom, "Can you stay behind for a little bit? I have something important to talk to you about." Yuri got flustered from the extra attention and then confused, but she nodded and stepped back through the doorway. Today had been the school's winter festival, and the literature club had just finished getting everything cleaned out of the club room. Sayori, Natsuki, and s̸̢̧̕͞ç͏r҉̸̢i̵͘͢͝p͢҉̷̵͜ţ̴̛͟͜:̷̢̨̛u̷͢͢͝ń̢͟͠k̢͟n̡̡o͜w҉̸̸͡n̸̡̕͟͞ had already left and gone back to their houses.

"What is it, Monika?" Yuri asked softly, her voice trembling a bit as she took a seat at the desk in front of Monika. The other girl was smiling widely, and with all the strange occurrences that have happened in the past, she can't help but worry about something bad happening.

"I know about your.. Cuts," Monika hummed nonchalantly, looking across the room at the clock on the wall. Yuri's expression dropped to that of shock and embarrassment, and she anxiously pulled her sleeves down with shaking hands. She could feel her face burning up at the thought of someone knowing such a private thing about herself. And most of all, she was ashamed she hadn't hidden her pain well enough.

"I'm guessing you're mad at me.." Yuri managed to get out in no more than a whisper, "And you probably hate me, and want me to leave the literature club behind?" The poor girl was blinking back tears as she clutched onto her book. She kept her head down, feeling guilty for causing trouble.

Monika looked taken aback for a moment before putting a hand on her shoulder. "What? No! Of course not, Yuri. I just wanted to offer you my.. Support," She explained, though her teeth were gritted together. She was having a hard time being empathetic towards her friend, who she knew to only be a... Nevermind that. Yuri was one of Monika's closest companions, and she had been developing feelings, although small ones, for awhile now. No matter what knowledge she's obtained, Yuri is experiencing real emotions right now, and she needed to be a good person.

Yuri teared up a little worse and whispered a soft "thank you" before clinging onto Monika, body shaking as she was wracked with quiet sobs. Nobody had ever noticed before; nobody had ever seemed to even care about what she was going through. But her... She was different.

Monika gently shushed the girl in her arms, cooing kind condolences under her breath as she wiped away Yuri's tears. Yuri offered a watery smile and leaned up to kiss her.
