I wake up to a pounding headache, looking around I'm still in the forest "dammit" I groan as I sit up slowly. My wolf Ivy suddenly perks sensing something, I'm on high alert or as much as I could be with this headache.
I look around trying to focus on my surroundings assessing any possible threats, to my right I notice movement behind a tree I growl ready to shift to my wolf form at any moment. "Who's there?" I say keeping my eyes trained.
"Thea? Is that you, dear?" Luna Paisley's voice cuts through the greenery, soon she comes into sight with her personal guard and a few pack warriors. When she sees me a look of relief floods her face, "my dear girl where have you been?" she comes forwards and attacks me with a hug. "You ran out of class and didn't show up to any of the other classes, I had expected you back at the packhouse when the school informed us of your absence, but it's been hours none of us could sense you or your wolf" she looks over my body for any injuries.
Alpha Baron shortly appears upon seeing his mates distraught expression, he sighs rubbing his face "she-wolves" he mumbled under his breath, not as quiet as he must've hoped as Luna Paisley looked around so fast sending him a death glare.
"Well my dear mate" she starts her tone low in anger, "if you don't like this you can leave, you are the reason this she-wolf is pregnant" she raises her eyebrow egging him to argue with her. "Pregnant with your pup as well" without giving him a chance to respond, her full attention returns to me with a softened expression.
Alpha Baron only sighs, he walks forward and kisses Luna Paisley on the forehead before he takes the remaining warriors back to the packhouse with him, leaving myself Luna Paisley and her personal guard who stands a few metres away behind us.
"So what happened? All we know is that you ran out of class, did you have another panic attack?" her eyes keep moving as if she's trying to look into my mind.
"I met my mate," I say choosing to ignore her question about my panic attacks that we thought had finally stopped. "I was walking to the office to get the withdrawal papers and he was there, he must be new because I've never seen him around school" thinking back to when we stood inches from each other.
"What's his name?" Luna Paisley smiles excitedly at what I can only assume is the news of my mate.
"We didn't actually get that far into the conversation" I confess thinking about how my words were stuck in my mouth. I can feel the embarrassment threaten to spread to my face as it heats up at the memory.
"Oh straight to kissing I see" she teases nudging my arm as she giggles.
I'm mortified once she said that as it was farthest from the truth,
I guess she could tell because shortly after her laughter was cut short as she looks at my horrified expression. "Sorry I shouldn't have assumed I'm just excited for you dear" her smile is soft and comforting. "Tell me what happened" she grabs my hand and gives it a squeeze.
"I was on my way to the office for the withdrawal papers, and my senses become overloaded so I went towards whatever was drawing me towards it"
"The mate pull" Luna Paisley continued nodding her head in understanding.
"Is that what that was?" I ask trying to put things together.
"It's when two mates are of age and within a certain proximity of each other, a sensation falls upon them drawing them towards each other it doesn't go away until they meet and then it's a dull tug in their soul until both accept each other as their mate" she explains answering all the questions that had began to form in my mind.
That had me wondering if he had felt the same overpowering sensations clouding his senses how come he didn't come to find me in the same frantic manner as I had to find him?
"Is that why you ran out of class, did something happen when you met?" she asked.
"I guess so, I was so caught up on how our meeting was a total disaster that when the teacher called on me I was so flustered which lead to an embarrassing moment in class and maybe my anxiety flared" I confessed feeling weak that I had another panic attack.
"It's okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes dear, that's just a part of life human or werewolf" Luna Paisley offers her words of wisdom as we stand up to head back to the packhouse.
Once we step foot into the packhouse Luna Paisley is swarmed with duties that needed her immediate attention and she is whisked away.
"Thea, can we talk?" Lance says as he catches up with me on my way to my room, he seems to have something on his mind.
"Sure, should we head to your office?" I suggest turning and walking toward his office.
"I was thinking maybe someplace out of pack grounds" he spoke softly.
"Okay," I said as I followed Lance to one of the pack cars, "where exactly are we going?" I asked watching the familiar buildings of our town go past.
"To a special place, you'll know when we get there" his reply was curt leaving no room for disagreement.
I crossed my arms turning away from him as he continued to drive, I hated surprises. The not knowing drives me to the brink of insanity, just when I'm about to bombard him with questions when he brings the car to a stop outside of a playground.
At first, I am confused as to why Lance would bring me here, but as we get out of the car I suddenly remember this special place.
This was where we met ten years ago.
