I put my head in my hands, on the verge of tears when I look up to see an angel blade sticking out of Castiel's abdomen. I see Sam standing behind him, and he looks awful. He's pale, sweaty, and wild-eyed. He looks like a ghost.
"It's good to see that you've arrived, Sam," Castiel says after he pulls the angel blade out of his back. He sets the blade on a small table next to him. "But the angel blade will do no harm to me now. I'm not an angel anymore." Everyone looks at Castiel with fear in their eyes.
"I am your new God, a much better one. You will kneel before me and profess your love for me, or I will destroy you."
Now...
I'm on the floor, surrounded by shards of glass, and I look up to Castiel with tears in my eyes. "Alright, well," Dad says, I look at him getting down on his knees, "is this good enough? Or do you want the whole head to the carpet sort of thing?" he asks. "Come on, guys." Sam and Dean cautiously sink to the floor, following suit to what my dad just did.
"Stop," Castiel says. Sam and Dean freeze where they are, and they aren't even on the floor. "What's the point if you don't actually mean it? Olivia might be the only one that does. It's not the same, you only fear me. Not respect me. It's only fear."
Sam staggers forward, "Cas," he protests.
"Sam, you have nothing to say to me. You stabbed me in the back," Castiel interrupts. "Get up," he tells my father and I, and it sounds like an order. I slowly get up, backing away from Castiel a little bit, standing closer to Dean.
"Cas, come on, this isn't you," Dean says, and I can hear the hurt in his voice.
"The Castiel you knew, or any hint of him, is gone." It feels like a blow to the chest, and I don't know if I can stand for it any longer.
"So what then? Are you gonna kill us?" Dean asks.
"No," I whisper under my breath, "No, you're still there."
"What a brave little ant you are," Castiel replies to Dean, no one hearing a word I said, "You know that you're powerless against me and wouldn't dare make a move. So I have no reason to kill you. Not now. Besides, you all were once my favorite pets before you turned and bit me."
"Then who are you?" I ask, keeping my voice steady, "Who are you if you're not Castiel?"
"I am God. If you all stay where you are, you may live in my kingdom, but if you rise against me, I will punish you for it. Not doing so well, are you, Sam?" Castiel replies, then all of our eyes turn to Sam. He's breathing heavily and looks as if he's ready to pass out on the spot.
"I- I'm fine. I'm f- fi- fine," Sam stammers.
"You said you would fix him!" Dean yells.
"I told you I would fix him if you stood down, and you barely did. So be thankful for my mercy, I could've casted Sam back into the pit," Castiel replies.
"This is nuts, Cas! Please, turn all of this around!" Dean yells, and I can hear that he's on the verge of tears.
"I hope for your sake that this is the last time that you'll see me," Castiel says. He disappears and the only thing I can do is sink to the floor. I feel so weak, so numb, and I don't know what to do. Then I look at Sam -- his nose is bleeding, and he goes to fall then catches himself, but ends up getting a piece of glass stuck in his hand.
"Sam!" I call out. I crawl to his side and the only thing he does is stare down at his hand. We take him back to the car and drive back to Sioux Falls. Dad and Dean take him to the spare bedrooms downstairs and I sit on the couch in the living room.
