I walked about laughing with my best friend, Lizzy Swan, at Commodore Norrington's party which she invited me to because I'm her best friend.

"So do you have your eye on anyone?" Lizzy asked scanning the crowd playfully.

"Not anyone in my league," I said "It's just a crush though" I said taking a sip form my champagne.

" Really, who is it?" she pressed and I laughed.

" A blacksmith" I said and she gasped quietly, I looked over at her with a raise brow.

"Will Turner?" She asked in a whisper.

" Wh- how'd you know that?"

" I've had a crush on him since I was ten and saw him flouting in the wate-" Lizzy was cut short by the commodore

"Elizabeth Might I speak to you in private?" he asked with a kind smile to her. She nodded  solemnly and walked away with him. It was obvious that Norrington loved her and I was hoping he would ask her to marry him already. Norrington hated me, I like to annoy him when I could and he had to put up with me because I'm Lizzy's best friend.

After a while of wondering about doing not much mingling, I wondered out to were Lizzy had gone with James Norrington. I stopped at the door way to watch them talk only to notice that Liz was panting and slowly going pale. I watched her lose balance and was at her side in seconds. She was falling backwards put I pushed her forwards.

"Miss Taney? What ar-"he was cut of by the half unconscious Lizzy felling forward into his arms but the momentum of me pushing her away from the edge caused myself to fall over the edge.

I screamed as I plunged to the water fearing that I was about to die. I sucked in as much air as I could before I hit the water. Sadly, I was wearing a corset and my breath was very limited. As I Sank into the cold water the light above me grew dimmer and dimmer. My head started to throb with pain and blotches started to take my vision away. Just as my was about to give up I felt an arm wrap round my waist and start pulling me up.  We broke to the surface of the water but I still couldn't see or breath. We were still moving then I was thrown up onto flat surface. I wanted to move, I wanted to breath and see but I couldn't. I could hear though.

"The bloody thing's choking her" I heard a man say then something was torn or cut and I could breath. I coughed up water and my vision slowly returned as I got my bearings. I then realized where I was and That I wasn't wearing much clothes.

"You al'right love" The man said and I looked up at him, he looked like a pirate but I wasn't about to bad mouth my rescuer. I was about to say thank him when Norrington rushed around us. Liz dropped at my side, huffing with her dress loosened  so she could run.

"Tahlia, are you alright?" She asked helping me to my feet and I nodded.

"Thank you, Mr....?" I turned to the man who smiled.

 "Shoot him!" James said but Lizzy turned to him

"Commadore, are you going to kill my best friend's rescuer?!"

"In that case, I believe thanks are in order?" James offered his hand to Jack. Jack reluctantly took it and when he did Norrington pulled up Jack's sleeve displaying brands and tattoos. "Pirate. Keep your guns on him, men! Gilette! Fetch some irons! Hm, had a brush with the East India Trading Company did we? Ah, Jack Sparrow." I gasped and covered my arm suddenly remembering that I didn't have sleeves. I had been branded when I was little because my father was a pirate, I never knew why but I knew that I would be put in jail if anyone found out. "CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow." the man corrected.

"Miss Taney?!" James grabbed my arm and held it up.

"James! Let go of her. why are yo-" Lizzy gasped when she saw the mark on my arm.

"Take them both away!" James called but Jack broke away and grabbed Lizzy. He put the chain around her neck and backed away.

"Put down your weapons!" Jack ordered and it was done." Let the Miss Taney go over here." I was released and I walked over to stand near the pirate. "My guns?" Lizzy was passed the guns and she put the onto Jack. Jack looked like he was very much enjoying himself.

Suddenly Jack pushed Lizzy away and grabbed me by the waist.

"Hang tight, love" He whispered and grabbed a rope swinging us both away.
