It's been two years since his last run to the beach. Jaebum is 18 now, a hopeless, dreamless, young adult. For the past two years, not a single dream had entered his mind at night. No star, no beach, nothing. And although he wants to forget about his dreams, the star reminiscences in the back of his mind. How could he forget of such magical feelings, such realistic dreams?
The perpetual war has yet ended, and is still raging through with unknown reason. Aircrafts from other kingdoms invade Sulivania every other month, bombing and destroying towns. And so, Jaebum was stuck in the castle training his hardest to become a knight.
Knights' jobs are to protect the kingdom, its people and the king. And after two years of training, you can finally keep the name "Kingdom Knight".
All the blood, sweat and tears of Jaebum's training has led up to this moment. The moment, the king himself, bestows the official name onto all the hard working trainees.
"Jaebum. Get suited up, we're heading to the kingdom hall." A soft yet deep voice echos into his dorm room. Jaebum looks up from the book he is reading, to see his friend Jinyoung smiling at the doorway.
During his first month of training, Jaebum trained alone. Nobody from his town had been there, and everyone else had already made groups.
Jinyoung, only being a couple months younger, wanted to take his training seriously. His friend group would slack off, and play around during training hours. When he got a glimpse of Jaebum working hard by himself, he felt he could kill two birds with one stone.
"Of course you're already ready." Jaebum laughs, looking his friend up and down, whom was already dressed in his armor. Jinyoung laughs with him, "I want to be one of the first ones up there, so hurry up." he states, fixing any thing wrong with his attire.
"We finally get to become knights... I just can't believe it." Jaebum sighs, feeling anxious already. He put on his armor with shaky hands.
Meeting the king, even seeing the king was an honor to the people of the kingdom. The monarch rarely shows himself, and only a handful of people actually know what he looks like.
Jinyoung and Jaebum make it to the hall early, only a few trainees were there. They find seats in the front of the room, facing the throne of the king.
"I'm so anxious, I can hear my armor rattling." Jinyoung leans over to him, his eyes shadowing over Jaebum's shaking hands in his lap. He grabs and squeezes them, in an attempt to calm his friend.
"Turn that anxiousness into pride. We made it." Jinyoung states softly. Jaebum nodded to his words and let's out a sigh.
After a few minutes, the hall becomes filled with men in full shining armor. Some conversed and laughed, some looked rather nervous and some looked almost unimpressed. But one thing was for sure, they were all anticipating the moment they get to see the king.
"Jinyoung!" A rather built male with tan skin and ruffled black hair skipped over to where the two anxious males sat. Jinyoung let go of Jaebum's hands and smiled. "Shownu, it's been a while."
"It really has, let's catch up before the king shows up. There's a whole buffet in the back of the hall!" Shownu exclaims and smiles, his plump lips stretching across straight white teeth.
Jinyoung looked over to Jaebum who was still anxious as ever. "I'll be back, it'll only take a few mins okay?" He said with reassuring eyes, his eye brows furrowing down in slight worry.
Jaebum simply nodded, giving Shownu a small smile before Jinyoung and the said male walked away. This gave him a moment to himself, a moment to think of everything. He closed his eyes and tried to take a deep breath in. But with the heavy silver armor weighted against his chest, it was quite hard.
Letting his head sway back, he lets out yet another sigh. He opens his eyes back up and stares at the halls' glass ceiling. The sky is bright and cluttered with banners, confetti and clouds.
I get to see the king..
As he thought quietly to himself, his thoughts a mess in his head, he almost misses the bright yellow light which zooms past the glass. In an instant, Jaebum's eyes fly open.
He sits up in his chair so fast, he startles the other knights around him. He glances at the other eyes around him apologetically. He then looks back up at the ceiling slowly, trying not to make himself seem any weirder.
You better be imagining things...
Getting a feeling like he was going insane, he ignores what he thought he saw and classifies that he is just way too anxious.
Yet he continues to search the ceiling, he won't admit it himself, but he wants to see that bright light again.
"I leave for a few seconds and people start telling me you're going insane." He looks over to Jinyoung, who is walking over to him with two steaming buns in his hand.
"W-what? Nah- I just, almost fell out my seat." Jinyoung arches one of his eyebrows up, disbelief on his face. "What? Did you fall asleep or something?" He gives one bun to Jaebum and sits back in his seat.
"Yeah, I kept my eyes closed for too long." Jaebum chuckles, he looks away and bites into the bun hastily. Red bean paste is inside the bun, the taste bringing ecstasy. It is nostalgic in a way...
Jinyoung continues to look at him with worry, "You know, Jaebum.. if you're-" before the boy can finish, cheers erupt in the halls.
"Is that the king?!"
"No way! The king really showed!"
Jaebum sits up quickly, anxiously moving his head to glance over the sea of silver knights. Jinyoung does the same, cheers and exclaims filling their ears. They both gulp down their food and await the appearance of the king.
Knights run back to their seats, fixing their hair and attire as they do so. When the last wave of knights run past the boys, a glimpse of green and gold can be seen. The kings' colors.
The hall suddenly gets quiet as four knights in blue armor walk across the thrones floor, behind them is a large male in a green and gold mantle, a gold crown with jewels atop his head.
"We are so blessed to even have our eyes lay upon him.." Jinyoung murmurs as the king sits gently on his throne. He looks over the young males in the hall, his eyes grazing over each head with a sense of strong aura.
One of the blue armored Knights walks forward, his chin up and face covered with a chained helmet. "All may rise in the presence of the King Sulivan!"
All the knights rise from their seats, their bodies stiff and chins up. Jaebum looks at the King, almost mesmerized by his strong presence. Something about him makes Jaebum quiver.
"Jaebum, your form." Jinyoung whispers.
Jaebum fixes his form, but is still caught staring at the king. He is sure everyone else is too, but he feels such a weird feeling, like he needs to look at him.
And just as the king rose his hand to command the knights to sit again, a bright yellow light floats down to the kings shoulder. Jaebum's eyes open wide, a small gasp leaving his mouth.
"What is wrong with you?" Jinyoung whispers, nudging the boy with his elbow. Jaebum turns his face to his friend, but keeps his eyes on the light. "Don't you see it?" He asks, almost shocked that Jinyoung would even question him.
"See what?"
