Willow's POV
Snapdragon poured the microwave popcorn into a bowl."I'm going to be hurting for a few days," I said, "but for popcorn? It's worth it."
"Definitely," Snapdragon nodded, passing me the bowl. "I can't wait to binge Gravity Falls and get sick on popcorn!"
We hurriedly plopped ourselves onto the couch and unpaused our show. Instead of starting where we'd left off, however, something entirely different began to play. A cold draft passed by, making me shiver.
On the screen were some snowy woods. Glittering snowflakes wafted over the trees, covering the multicolored Christmas lights with snow. A large paintbrush sat all alone on a stump. The stump appeared to be oozing purple paint. Odd.
"Is this how the show's supposed to go?" Asked Snapdragon. "What happened to Gideon the yandere?"
"This isn't how any of this is supposed to go. Are you sure you pressed unpause? Our remote has buttons for different channels..."
"Yep, I made sure. Who's that? Grunkle Stan?" She pointed at the TV.
The paintbrush was gone. In its place was a small skeleton. The skeleton's outfit made them blend into the wooded background.
"Um, what." I hadn't looked away for more than 30 seconds.
"So... this isn't normal?"
"Well, actually, no" The skeleton was now looking straight at us, a mischievous smirk on their face. "Your universe doesn't have monsters like me. Your universe is the one that creates all others. But, I'm not part of this universe's normalcy. Understand?"
"Nope." Snapdragon said, popping a piece of popcorn in her mouth.
"Normalcy doesn't exist." I said. "Who are you and how'd you hijack our TV?"
"Oh, me?" The skeleton said. "I'm Ink Sans."
"Sans?" We asked.
"A variation, yes!" He said. "I'm here to spread Christmas joy!"
"Like Santa Claus?" Snapdragon and I asked.
"Jinx!" Snapdragon whispered.
"No." Ink Sans said. He looked like he'd been asked this a few too many times.
"Like the Christmas spirit?" I asked.
"Yes! I think..." He paused. "Probably! I'm here to bring you joy."
"OK" Snapdragon shrugged.
"Good luck." I mumbled.
"..." The poor guy seemed to expect a more enthusiastic response. "Every year at Christmas time, I visit one lucky individual or friend group and grant them a special holiday wish."
"So, like Santa?" We asked again.
"NO! I. AM. NOTHING. LIKE. SANTA. I have a paintbrush." He picked up the giant paintbrush from behind the stump. It was easily as tall as he was.
So he didn't turn into a paintbrush. I thought.
"We get a wish?" Snapdragon asked.
"Can I wish to not be depressed anymore?" I asked.
"Uh, no. But yes, you do have a wish. You can go to any Alternate Universe or Timeline you want. You can meet any character. I can make you a cool hat. The possibilities are endless." He swished his paintbrush.
"Oh, oh! Can I explore the world of Undertale with my friend?" We asked.
"Sure! Would you like a new adventure or would you rather stick to tried and true?"
Snapdragon and I looked at eachother. We smiled.
"An all new adventure!"
"Awesome! Now remember kids, you can only return to your universe when you successfully complete one of three routes: genocide, neutral, or pacifist. Your choices affect your story. Good luck!"
We didn't even have time to think. Ink was out of the TV and in front of us before we could blink. The last thing we saw was a wink. Then the paintbrush hit us hard on our heads.
