"You sure you don't need me to come over," Kevin worriedly asked through the phone, "I'll cancel my date and we can just hang out tonight."
"I'm fine Kevin," I told my best friend as I prepared something to eat, "Have your date and stop worrying about me. But guess what? I'm doing what you want me to do."
"And what is that?" He asked sounding hopeful.
"I'm going to a psychologist," I told him getting out some vegetables and meat, "I couldn't leave without saying I will."
"So, what you saying is I should have forced a therapist on you?" He laughed, "But that's great Marc. Anyway, back to you destroying your home."
"It was just a moment of weakness Kevin," I told him I slowly cut up meat. My wrist was hurting but I was hungry. Kevin then responded, "Just like it was in LA when Evan wouldn't answer your calls?"
"This isn't about Evan," I plainly retorted, "It was just a breaking point...correction second breaking point."
"Yeah and they only get worse," Kevin said furiously as I heard something sizzle in the background, "I don't remember you slitting your wrist last time."
"The doctor said it wasn't- "
"Dammit Marcus, I don't care if the doctor said it wasn't deep enough. You needed stitches and-and-and I could have lost my best friend!"
I stayed silent as he paused. I understood his anger. I understood everyone's anger. However, no one was trying to listen to why what happened, happened. They considered their feelings and what I should do but no one has asked me why. They think they know but they aren't in my head or my body.
I sucked my teeth as Kevin went on, "But I'm glad that you are doing this. Even if it's forced upon you. You will finally have someone to help."
Rolling my eyes, I decided to change the subject and ask, "So when am I going to meet this girl you are cooking for?"
"When it is time. I may love her but we only have been dating for like 3 months now. Seems too soon and she isn't ready for you guys yet."
"Uhm," I let out a laugh, "What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean," he laughed back, "You are fine. However, the other guys are a trip."
"Oh, so you want to introduce her the whole crew?"
"Yes and God help me when I do," he laughed harder while I followed up, "We aren't that bad."
"You aren't that bad. Like I said, I have to slowly get her adjusted to them."
"Unlike I did when I just threw you to the wolves," I teased him and I heard him slam on the table while laughing, "Exactly! I was a deer in headlights! I still remember your brother busting through the cafeteria like a mad man."
"Hey, you know that dick Michael pissed him off," I clarified turning on the stove, "I'm glad he lives in another country now. Maybe his parents got sick of him and had him ship there."
"He was a little bitch! I had class with him and the guy wouldn't shut up about himself."
I smiled getting my spices and seasonings out for my meat before I remembered to tell him something, "Hey, also your favorite person is going to watch me tonight."
"Isn't Gabe a little young to be babysitting?" He joked and I answered, "He is but his dad isn't."
I could hear something fall in the background as he cussed. I heard even more wrestling as he tried to get his phone back up to his ear, "You said what now?"
