I couldn't believe Evan asked me out on a date. Well, it wouldn't be our first but since we are trying things out slowly it would be a nice start. We didn't let on to us dating at the fitting either because it was more stressful than we thought.
Harry had made Caleb mad again with choosing the wrong fabric and my brother had to step in. Then Johnathan decides to help with the arrangements and Harry left. That night Chris told me that Harry didn't want Johnathan's help because he wanted to do something for Caleb by himself for once. However, Caleb told him that he still wanted him to help but he had to listen.
Now that the drama from last night was over, it was time for my therapy session or as I like to say mental torture. Dr. Reef had told me to come straight after work so I could get all the paperwork I needed done. I walked into the small house like clinic that had a small waiting area. The walls reminded me of my Aunt Ruby's house with the white painted wooden walls. It even had a fireplace with a TV above. It was showing some channel but the front desk took my attention. There was a mocha skin man that was sitting, wearing a tight pink shirt and dark blue slacks. However, his impressive makeup was what had me staring. His eye shadow was a blush color and contour looked flawless.
I greeted him and he smiled, "Hey! You must be Marcus because you look like you just left work. I'm loving the outfit!"
His voice was a bit higher than what expected but it did lighten my mood as he gave me my papers to fill. Once everything was filled, I was just waiting. My foot was tapping crazily, probably at a distracting rate. I couldn't lie, I was nervous. I was skeptical about therapy because speaking about the why of my depression was always a locked and shut piece of my memory. I had flashbacks and everything but I never want to open that box of evil again. A therapist just loves to get in that box and play around in it.
However, it was going to take a lot of digging and probing to get anything out of me. I just want him to hurry up before I break my leg.
"Hey sweetie," the front desk assistant called over to me, "My brother is great. I've seen plenty of people lives he has saved."
"Brother?" I asked.
"Yes, I know," he comically rolled his eyes before laughing, "He's my older brother and I was between jobs so he gave me this one for a little while. But don't worry, he isn't like those therapists that just like to ask you how you are feeling today."
"That's actually less calming," I bluntly stated and he seemed taken back as responded, "You don't want any help? From the way that you were shaking your leg I thought you were going to stomp a hole through the floor."
"I'm just nervous," I told him, "I've never been to therapy before. I don't like talking about myself that much."
"A cutie like you that don't like talking about himself?" He laughed, "Must be a rarity that I have finally came across. But don't be afraid. Between you and me...my brother is the shit!"
We shared a small laugh before I heard Dr.Reef's deep voice, "We talked about professionalism Jaylen."
He came out from around the corner wearing a short sleeved white polo and khakis. His brown eyes shined as he walked over to shake my hand and said, "I'm glad you came. I hope my brother wasn't too much. Him and my wife are always talking people heads off."
"Ooooo," Jaylen chimes in getting out his phone, "I'm calling Jelena now and telling on you."
We all laughed before Dr.Reef guided me to his office. It was getting real now and my blood was pumping so hard through my heart I thought I would faint as we made it. His office was set up comfortably with calming blue paint and a wide window behind an all black couch. His desk sat in a corner across from the couch. There was a large bookshelf on the side with multiple titles, most related to psychology.
