When I wake up the first thing that I register is that I'm in a car. I hear people talking quietly, and I open my eyes. The first face that I see is Night's. He's in the backseat with me, and I have my feet resting on him considering I am sprawled our across the whole backseat. As soon as he realizes I'm awake, he politely grins at me.
"Where am I?" I ask.
"In a car." Night responds.
I ignore his obvious statement and ask, "Where are we going?"
"Back to my territory." He says.
That's when I start to panic. "What? Noooo! You're taking me back home, right?!"
"No." He says simply.
"This is kidnapping! I demand to be taken home now!" My voice is rising and I give him my meanest look.
Night let's out a little laugh and says, "It's not kidnapping if you're my mate. I knew that if I didn't take you back to my territory while you were asleep, then you would refuse to come."
I give him a nasty look. I can't believe he's kidnapping me! I just want to go home! I don't want to be in this car with a cold and evil man that I don't even know! I try and calm myself down. My father will surely send someone after me, and Canyon will tell him who's taken me...wait...Canyon!
"Where's Canyon?" I blurt out.
Night shrugs. "At her party."
"She will come after me!" I yell.
"She let me take you." He says.
"W..what?" I ask.
"She knows where you are, and she let me take you." He says.
I don't say anything. I feel betrayed. Why would she let him take me? She knows how upset I was that he was my mate. My mind continues to race as I sit up from the seat and begin gazing out the window. I don't know how long we've been on the road, or how much longer we're going to be on the road. All I know is that I've been kidnapped by my evil mate and betrayed by my best friend. Yet, I still can't seem to be mad at either of them. Besides kidnapping me, Night has shown no sign of being the cold person everyone makes him out to be. And as for Canyon, maybe she has a plan to rescue me.
I continue thinking while staring at the never ending lines of trees until we finally turn into a long and narrow driveway. By now, the sun is beginning to rise. I haven't spoken another word the whole ride, but I can't help the little gasp I let out when I see what I presume to be Night's pack house. You may be thinking, but aren't you a princess, and don't you live in a castle? Well, where I live may be large, but it is very outdated. This house is the complete opposite. It is the definition of modern, and I can't help but stare at it.
"I'm taking it you like the house?" Night says with a chuckle. I just ignore him.
The car comes to a stop, and Night opens his door. I do the same, along with the driver of the vehicle and the man that was sitting in the passenger seat. After hopping out of the car, I just take a moment to look around. The house is located in the middle of the woods, and it is breathtakingly beautiful.
"Pretty, huh?" Night says as he comes to stand beside me. He then starts walking towards the door of the house, and I have no choice but to follow.
As we enter the house, we are greeted by an elderly man.
"Hi, Milo." Night greets.
"Hello, Night. Who is this beautiful young lady?" Milo responds.
"This is Mallory, my mate." Night says with a grin.
Milo reaches his hand out to me and I take it. "Hello, Mallory. It's very nice to meet you."
"Hi. It's nice to meet you, too." I say.
"I'm going to show Mallory to her room. Please tell the maids to prepare an extra spot at breakfast." Night tells Milo. Milo responds with a quick nod, and then heads off in the opposite direction.
Night then leads me through what I assume is the living room and to some glass steps. He begins climbing them, and I follow. When we get to the top of the stairs, Night takes a right. I see a long hallway with doors on both sides, and I assume that these are all bedrooms for pack members. He leads me to the last door on the right, and opens it up before stepping inside. I follow, and my eyes immediately begin wondering around the room. It is a simple room, painted white, with a crisp white headboard and bedspread. There are two doors located on the far wall, and I assume that one is a closet and the other is a bathroom. The room also has two dressers, and what looks to be a makeup table.
"I know it's not much, but I wasn't really expecting to find you last night, so it's the only room we have available." Night says, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I like it, but you wouldn't have to have a room for me at all if you would just let me go home." I say.
"No way am I letting you go back and live with that disgusting thing you call a father." Night says.
"Don't ever talk about my father like that again!" I say.
"One day you'll find out the truth about that awful man that you call a father." Night murmurs.
"What are you taking about?" I ask.
Night completely ignores me question, instead saying, "Get some more sleep, and then get cleaned up. Breakfast is at 8, but you can skip it if you want to. Just make sure you come to dinner tonight. And please don't try to run away. My wolves are everywhere, and there's nothing around for miles." Night says before walking out of the room and shutting the door, leaving me to my thoughts.
